Looking for a gaming console

I am looking for a console. Not brand loyal so anything will do. It doesn't need to be the latest release, but I don't want an original playstation either. What would yo go with? Thanks.

Yes it does. Since they all pretty much have backwards compatibility, get the latest one.

There is not a correct answer here, you need to state what games you like to play or how you like to play. Each of the big 3 have their pros and cons.

Games I like are first person shooter like ghost recon from back in the day. I also like fighter jet and golf games.

We don’t know what you like, so how can we help you? I think all three of the modern systems are solid and each has their ups and downs.

The easiest to find right is a Xbox Series S (available right now at Bestbuy.com) and its a solid choice for someone getting back into gaming. Join Gamepass and enjoy.

Xbox Series S with Ace Combat 7 and PGA 2k22.

Xbox series S is pretty gettable right now, I’ve seen it at multiple Wal Mart stores and game stops. Also Targets keep them stocked

Series S is in stock and only $290 at Costco if you have a membership. Got one the other day on a Friday at 10am and with express shipping it was on my door the next morning at 9am shipped from Minnesota to Baton Rouge.
I got it pretty much for what people said, paired with game pass it’s an awesome device.

I just realized the series S is digital and does not take discs. Do you buy and download games? Do they stay stored in a cloud and you grab them when you want to play?

You can now stream some games with no download required, purchase games digitally from store, or download any gamepass ultimate game to the console (500gb storage with expandable options) for the length of the ultimate subscription

This is where things get a little confusing for those unfamiliar with the product. You can purchase and download game from the Xbox Store front and or join Gamepass and download games and play them as long as your subscription is current. As far as storage, the S only has 500gb which isnt really a lot for modern gaming.
In order to play Series X and S games or older gen games that have S and X enhancements you have to store and load your games on either the on board hardrive or add storage by purchasing the expensive proprietary SSD drives designed specifically for Series X and S. Now you can use use more run of the mill external hardrives to store Series X and S games for later use and move them over to the SSD drives when you are ready to play. You can also play last gen and older Xbox games off the cheaper drives but they wont load as fast or be able to take advantage of some the enhanced features.
Lastly there is the XCloud streaming service that allows you to stream some games off the cloud but its still in its infancy and depending on your connection speed your results will vary. It cool for gaming on the go but at home I would just download.

I'd get the series s and gamepass. It's hard to go wrong with that imo. Especially if you are just curious about checking out a lot of games you may have missed or games you are curious about.
