Long term thought about Twitch/Mixer

With Amazon buying Twitch, do you think Amazon sees Twitch as much more than a gaming platform? I almost feel like they want the IRL section and live sports with subs to take off.
If this happens, Will the gaming community stay with Twitch or move? Mixer is literally throwing massive amounts of money at any big streamer to come over. I think if Tim, Summit, Tfue or any of those other major streamers move over, Mixer could really start to compete with Twitch.
I just think in 5 years, Twitch isn’t seen as a video game streaming platform, it becomes a live anything platform that doesn’t benefit video game streamers. I don’t know if Mixer is where they land but I doubt they stay at Twitch.
Am I way off here?

Amazon is obviously moving twitch to be more than a gaming platform.
Mixer can buy up all the big streamers they want, but what they need to do is buy or entice medium sized guys to come over. They need a volume of established streamers, not big splashes. Im talking guys that average like 3-5k viewers.
People tap out on mixer once they realize the culture and community didn't transfer over with the streamers.
I watched a decent amount of shroud, but I also channel hop a lot. There are so many guys I like watching on twitch and I'm not the only person with that mentality. There is no comparison about which platform has the better viewer experience.

esports is bit money, twitch will win and the guys that are getting paid to move to mixer will fade. ninja and the others are getting the money up front and good for them, but twitch is here to stay

Do you think if Mixer was able to get exclusive rights to some esports they could make a dent? Let’s say they get the rights to CSGO, Rocket League and COD then Halo gets back in the game. Would that do it or would LOL, DOTA, etc. keep Twitch way ahead?

read Dr.'s post, I agree I channel hop based on the game, I have no loyalty to a streamer and think the people donating to them are nuts, but I will stay with twitch to scratch that itch.

League alone is bigger than all 3 of those games, so yea they would stay ahead, but them buying out a directory would make them more of a serious competitor. The game has to be worth it though, because they tried this method before (Smite). Granted it wasn't their fault that Hi-Rez nuked the game right when it was getting popular.
IMO They should look into buying up a bunch of fighting games like MK, Tekken, S. Fighter, etc and buy out EVO.
Having EVO exclusively would be huge for them, also gives them a bunch of smaller streamers with very loyal communities that come from the fighting games genre.

Ninja moved to Mixer because he said it gave his brand a chance outside of just gaming, he wanted to move away from a gaming brand only, specifically. Likely the same for Shroud as well.
They aren't going to Mixer for gaming, exact opposite.

I will say that out of the gate, Shroud has helped way more than Ninja has by hosting other Mixer streamers. That's huge for them because it obviously helps the hosted streamer, but it also retains viewers to the site. Shroud has always been like that though.

I don't buy that. Ninja's brand was already reaching outside of gaming at Twitch.

I guess I wasn't clear enough, Ninja said this himself.
Ninja left Twitch because his brand was too big for gaming

Ninja is set for life but I don't get his "brand" but I never watched him.

I enjoy watching Ship on Mixer. Anyone follow him?

How much did Mixer pay Ninja to join? That guy Ship that I watch doesn’t have near the following but seems to do pretty well with subscriptions and donations.

Mixer could eventually take off as a legit competitor to Twitch but they will need to reach a critical mass.
The big advantage Twitch has is the community thing. People watch their favorite streamer or two but they bounce around random other streams ALOT.
Mixer needs a healthy "middle class" to support the big boys.

If they want this to happen they need to police the thottery but the thirsty management at Twitch isn't going to do so. I don't think the sad individuals who throw money at these women will ever stop. Those people actually think they have a shot.

And that they're owned by Amazon and you can get a free sub a month with Prime.
