Thinking about getting TW. Never really played a golf game except for this weird TW one on the PS1.
Can I pick up the new TW and learn how to play fairly easy?

it is very user friendly..but it is really hard..especially on tour pro..

yeh, it's not that difficult of a game. we've had a lot of fun with it so far. it's really competitive.
it's the transition from being good to being great.
like shooting 5-6 under to shooting 15-18 under a round. (on pro! tour pro, whole nother monster)

but yes, control and putting are by far the most important to me.
I was even in everything at 75 or something, then got tired of being 15 yards off for driving short par 4s in 1
I put more stock into accuracy than the control for some reason, I use the loft a lot but not draw/fade too much.
Like how you can keep adjusting the sliders on stats and its not permanent once you do it though.
Change it up to see what works.

Damn. Im at 74 across the board I think.
yeah thats pretty much what i was at, then took all the control XP and added it to power
Im a poor mans Hank Kuehne now

Like I know nothing about golf. But did try to hit my downsyndrome brother with a golf ball once from about 40 yards out when I was young. Got em right between the eyes. Never thought I would actually do it tho.

I might try to play around with it tonight to see. I'm fairly consistent. The hardest thing I have found is the less than say...60% shots and how far to pull the back swing back. I can never hit it just right so I adjust by having the most spin I can on the ball for when I land in the wrong place
Posted on 4/21/11 at 3:18 pm to Lynyrd
i screw myself with the spin too much so i keep that low or on normal and just put everything i got into the accuracy.
Posted on 4/21/11 at 3:21 pm to Klark Kent
Does spin move the ball in the air or does it just play a role on how it moves once it hits the green?
Posted on 4/21/11 at 3:22 pm to Blitzed
you get the spin going in the air, but it's not effected until it hits the ground.

I guess I've gotten used to it. On the old TW games, I would always play with Vijay because he had the most spin.

I like how less angry everyone is now that Sarge left.

he's just too dumb to know when to shut up for his own good.
like the fly everyone gives up on swatting at and eventually just ignores.

im the exact same way
I go max loft and choke down to get it up to a higher % because I hate those shots.
anything like 80%-95% or higher, I pull all the way back and just hold depending on what the % is, works pretty good.
total TW thread hijack in this bitch

And will the game help me decide what clubs to use at certain times?
Or do I just need to study those
Or do I just need to study those

no, your caddy does almost all those type of calculations.
he'll adjust for distance, wind, height of shot, lie, speed of green. He then gives your a certain percentage of power you are to hit the ball. Sometimes 100% sometimes off the wall numbers like 63%. That's the difficulty.
after the ball is in flight, depending on the difficulty, you can adjust the spin to get closer to the pin or in the middle of the fairway.
