I really don't understand the open world element of this game. The open world seems incredibly empty. I think I've only done three side quests, and I just got to Episode III.

There seems to be a ton of content here. Can’t wait to do all the puzzles and side quests in free play.

However does anyone else find the story itself a little boring? I liked how in the old one you had to use your imagination a bit to beat the levels.

It feels "dumbed down" compared to precious Lego titles in that there's less gameplay variety and puzzles overall when compared to the old titles.

Is Darth Jar Jar a playable character?

I started with episode 1 and 2 but jumped to 7 because you can only unlock the scavenger abilities with episodes 6 and 7.

I wanted to be able to collect items as I moved through the landscape when I was given the option to change characters. I'm almost done with Episode 3 then I think I'll finish the sequel trilogy saving the OGs for last.

My problem with this game is how tacked on the open world elements feel. It's almost like a separate game in and of itself, yet you're thrust into what is essentially the open world in between missions (sometimes). Sometimes you can swap to random characters, but sometimes you can't. Somes you'll talk to an NPC on one planet who tells you about something going on at another planet, but you can't travel to that planet outside of actual free-play mode.

Yeah I agree it's a bit annoying how they tried to tie the story missions in with some of the open world. I was just annoyed why I couldn't use Kuiil's scavenger abilities when I came across open world places to unlock stuff then I read online you have to do the scavenger tutorial which is only available in episodes 6 and 7.

That is to say that I would prefer they dropped the open world aspect in favor of expanding each individual episode.

Yes it’s so confusing. Once you complete story mode, I’m hoping free play won’t be a hassle like it is now.
I liked the old Lego game where in between levels you were based at Dexters Diner. Then you could free play any episode from there. Maybe playing it more will solve my confusion.
