I've seen watered down - I don't think Cataclysm is watered down. I've played off and on since vanilla and while things as of 4.2 are easier than they once were, Blizzard had to do something to compensate for the 85 level cap.
The classes are balanced well enough, the specs are more immediately rewarding while soloing, and I personally think that mastery is a nice addition.
There's nothing wrong with making life a little easier on the solo leveler. I wish that new players would stay the frick out of dungeon groups until they figure out how to fill a role, but there's not much you can do about that.

Healers have been bitching since Cataclysm dropped about how hard they have it now. Word around the water cooler is that healers had it way too easy during the 3.0 era, though.

Ya right before Cataclysm I was a healer and rarely ran out of mana during a boss fight, but I hear now that you can't just spam heals anymore but I'm done with mmorpgs for good.

and there are over 15 million LoL users
xfire doesn't show everyone playing but its a large enough sample size
