Odd that you can’t pre purchase on steam. Maybe I just never pre buy things but I would KSP.

I have it on my wish list, but I didn’t try to pre-purchase it. That is a little odd.

Steam says I played KSP 602 hours, but it must have been more than that.

I played a pretty substantial amount of time and didn't accomplish a whole lot.

The back breaking moment occurred when I landed on a planet (Mars?) with my lander. Apparently my rocket engine was barely longer than my landing legs and slightly broke on landing. My Kerbal was stuck, my hopes crushed, and I just couldn't do it anymore.

Couldn't even muster the strength to attempt a rescue mission.

I never had a successful manned mission outside the main planet and its moons (Mun and Minmus), just a couple of probes.

I had great fun building stations, though. It would get buggy with a high part count and that usually ended up with a restart. Getting a communication network up and running was rewarding as well. I wasn't particularly good with planes/spaceplanes, but once I figured out the basics of rockets I was good with those and, eventually decent with landers.

Be glad you never made it to Eve Jeb is a permanent resident in my save. Tried to rescue him a couple of times, and after 8 game years or something, I just broke the bad news to him and moved on.

I spent 4 weeks attempting a full mission to and from eve. It took a lot of trial and error along with building a ship that launches in parts, combines together in orbit and has refueling capabilities for when I landed on eve. I was done with the game once I completed that.

Outside of Eve, getting to Eeloo and back was my biggest issue. I also tried making space stations on the surface of Laythe but never did anything meaningful. The only planet I never landed on was Moho

I know this is early access, but I am not impressed so far. Performance is rough, sandbox only, even the prettied up things are a bit weird.

Seems like they rebuilt everything from the ground up because this is pretty bare bones at the moment.

This is the most disappointed I have been about a game in a long time. Yes I know its EA. But I thought that they were going to build on the foundation of KSP1.

The flight widgets look horrible, the menu's are rough. The water is horrible. Flights hiccup during stages etc. I don't feel they should have released it as it is. Diehard fans will be disappointed.

That’s what happens when corpo sponsors a passion project. The projects becomes a product. And investors become impatient.

I have faith that the development team will get this game to where they want it to be. But that’s a few years minimum down the road. I purchased it, installed it just to do a Mun landing and then uninstalled for now. I will reinstall in about a year or so (or when career mode is added). I knew what the early access was going to be before I purchased so I wasn’t disappointed. I consider it an investment and hope my one transaction adds to a large enough pool for the investors to not pull their money out of this.

It was released extremely prematurely. Its current state is more of a tech demo where you need the latest hardware for it to even be playable.

Your best option if you’re excited for this game is to get the original KSP, CKAN mod manager, find a good mod list online and just fire it up with texture mods. The mod list is enough to hold you over until KSP2 is ready. And hopefully by then KSP2’s mod catalog is filling out.

With the aid of mods you can make KSP look almost as good as KSP2. Plus add the gas giants, and other planets/systems.
I’ve played on/off for a few years now and the most complex thing I’ve done is a Duna (Mars) landing (no return ). and it felt so rewarding to just see my craft sitting safely on the surface.

The release of KSP2 made me wanna fire KSP up again after about a year or not playing. So I’m starting a new save from scratch and relearning the game.

If anyone’s even the slightest bit interested in space/rockets, I can’t recommend this game (the original) enough.

I normally would be happy with an “investment” purchase if it was a kickstarter type situation.

My expectations for this were much higher. I was an original early adopter for KSP. It’s been fun to watch it grow.

KSP2 feels like a slap in the face tbh. Basically prettied up an alpha version of KSP1.

EA should always be approached with lower expectations but this is ridiculous. I normally would just park the game until later like you are doing but I wanted to send a message by pulling out. They don’t deserve to hold my 50 bucks with what they provided.

I've always been kind of disappointed KSP1 or now KSP2 did not come with or have an option for scaling to Sol solar system measurements and ratios. Make the planets scale and distance mirror our solar system.

There are mods for that in KSP1 if you wanted to give it a try. But I agree. Having the option to start with either solar system would be nice!

And your anger is valid but that’s not on the developers. You can tell they know the game wasn’t ready for the public to see or touch yet. But their hand was forced by the parent company
