Not necessarily. Like a weapon with C in both strength and dex is perfect for a quality build (27 strength/40 dex, and two-handing).
Again, gems change how a weapon scales, so don't let a weapons initial scaling steer your stat investment.

This game is a detriment to my sleep schedule.

I asked about how Sekiro was regarded by Souls fans earlier in this thread but never got an answer. Seems it's combat system is a complete change of pace.

i hjavent played sekiro but from what i understand, sekiro forces you to play a certain way but ds3 lets you play any way you want.

Sekiro is totally different, but in a good way. The bosses are much harder from the start it seems. You also can't just attack or you'll get annihilated. You have to block and parry. The enemies have a health bar and posture bar I believe it's called. When you block an attack perfectly that bar fills up. If you do it enough it will let you one shot kill them. You also have to kill bosses multiple times, some of them three times.

Just beat the dancer. She was the hardest boss yet. It was a great fight though and I had hell getting her attacks down. I think I died close to 15-20 times.

I guess I got lucky on her. Aldrich gave me more fits.

Watch the Launch Trailer and you'll wanna play it. LINK
Sekiro is great as well. It's a little shorter and more focused than DS3 (still has the oppressive Souls atmosphere), and has a more straightforward story. Instead of tons of weapons and shields and armor to choose from, you have one primary sword with a bunch of secondary options, as well as a bunch of combat arts. Secondaries range from a deployable shield to a flamethrower to a hatchet, etc. Don't want to really explain them as its fun to see
Sekiro's combat is faster-paced and more restrictive compared to Souls. Instead of rewarding patience and observation, it rewards aggression and ferocity. Big emphasis on breaking enemy's posture through a combination of damage dealt + parrying. When an enemy's posture is broken, they can be taken down instantly (unless they have additional posture blips)
This is slow-mo but kinda explains it well. Those big orange flashes are perfect parries. Every time you get one of those, it builds the enemy's posture. When he takes down that dude with the throat stab, he had broken that guy's posture and was rewarded.

Here's what combat looks like at normal speed.

There is no leveling system like there is in Souls/Bloodborne, so the game basically forces you to get good. If you get stuck on a boss, you have to master his mechanics (you can't go grind souls for an hour and jack up your strength or health). Some people cry about this online, but it's not really an issue. If you can beat the Dancer and Pontiff and shite, you can learn Sekiro. The combat is really rewarding when it clicks. There's a boss a few hours into the game that you basically can't beat unless you demonstrate a good grasp of the mechanics. It's a good "ah-ha" moment.
In addition to the fighting, there's a ton more verticality + you have a grappling hook. Full stealth system if you like to play that way too. Most enemies can be stealth killed if you want to play like a traditional ninja.

Phenomenal game, buy with confidence.

What character type would you pick for sneak (ninja)?
Also, in the PS Store they have a DSIII for $59.99 and a DSIII Deluxe Edition for $21.24 (same cover art), go with the cheaper one?

Looks like Knight or Assassin are pretty well rounded.

Thanks Carson and Devious. I’ve been playing God of War ($19.99) in the PS Store; but got pissed bc I can’t get past the elevator level with the hammer and chisel board. It’s funny listening to the “head” dude every time I die though. I’ll just play both of these for a while now.

If you're still looking to farm embers you can get yourself summoned to fight the bosses with other players. Buy the White Soapstone from the Old Lady in the chair and put down the summon sign at Anor Londo bonfire, Catacombs bonfire, Profaned Capital bonfire or outside of Dancer/Vordt.
The other way is the opposite and invade other players games. You'll need either cracked red eye orbs or get the infinite one from Leonhard's questline (Rosaria guy).

I can’t seem to get past this giant knight. I’m going to have to get used to this game play. I’m starting out turrible.

Takes a few to figure out boss attacks animations and what they are going to do.
They all have tells. React to the tells and attack when they are stuck in animations they cant hurt you from.

I quit this game three different times because of that knight, but I wanted to what all the fuss was about, so I stick with it on the fourth attempt. I had hell getting pass him and haven't had much trouble since, until Aldrich and Dancer.

Are titanite chunks hard to come by? I'm trying to decide what to spend them on. I can't decide between my Sharp Broadsword, upgrading my flame, or my chaos Astora Greatsword?
