is there a good gaming laptop that isn't too expensive?

I got my son the gaming computer from ibuypower that someone on here recommended and he loves it. However, his laptop is old and was only like 250 so he can't game on it.
he went to a friend's last weekend and took his whole computer with him. I was like wtf. So i think it's time for a laptop
The alienware one is 4500. not happening. i'd like to keep it under 1k

they already did a good job of building me a pc and don't ask me why you would go to your friends to play online computer games together

Xbox live killed lan parties, and even though it's super convenient to be able to play with whoever whenever, there was nothing like connecting your PC's or xbox's, playing some deathmatch, yelling at each other from the other room, and meeting up in the kitchen for snacks and sodas sharing war stories.

Worked a night job, so on my days off, didn't have to worry about getting up early. Man, I loved it.

and if you get him a "budget" gaming laptop he will probably will end up lugging his pc over again b/c it will be so much better

Not a fan of gaming laptops myself. Hadl bad experiences in college going the "mobile desktop" route.
If you are serious about it, you are going to need to put down at least 1500 most likely.
