Playstation Blog
Seems kinda cool.

PlayStation Stars will be free to join when it launches later this year. Once you become a member, you’ll earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities. Our “Monthly Check-In” campaign simply requires you to play any game to receive a reward, while other campaigns require you to win tournaments, earn specific trophies, or even be the first player to platinum a blockbuster title in your local time zone.
All PlayStation Stars members will have opportunities to earn loyalty points. Points can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds and select PlayStation Store products. As an additional benefit, PlayStation Plus members enrolled in PlayStation Stars automatically earn points for purchases on PlayStation Store.
Seems kinda cool.

At least they’re doing something to combat game pass. It’s literally the ONLY reason to own an Xbox. A pretty good one tbh

Microsoft/Xbox has been doing this for years, and it really is pretty great. I've used it to get free games and accessories.

Welp, at least I'll get those Monthly Check-In rewards!

I cancelled my gamepass, my xbox will collect dust until starfield launches. New PS+ has alot of the same games. Looking forward to playing stray on launch day. I think they are combatting it much better than exclusive xbox players believe.

This is like a child's version of Microsoft Rewards, which is easily the best rewards program available and does not require you to have an Xbox or Game Pass or play video games at all. Combining Microsoft Rewards with Game Pass is awesome. I use MS Rewards points to purchase any game I want that doesn't release on Game Pass. I never pay for games anymore unless I want a physical copy (the exchange rate for Game Stop gift cards isn't great).
They also have gift cards for other things if you're not a gamer.

Strange, because they have had sony rewards for a while and i always use my points to get gas cards.
You get 5x points when purchasing off the playstation store or any sony product.

I figured I'd pay the $22 to upgrade to extra. I get to play Stray which looks cool but the main thing is I can knock out Miles Morales. Other games I might try are Returnal and Control.

Control
Even though it was critically acclaimed, I still think this one is underrated.

I don't think so, and i don't know how it happened but for me to upgrade on the year it was very cheap. I think my PS+ auto renewed right before the new tiers came out. Only 30 bucks or so for me to ad PS+ Extra(i don't need ps1 games)

This really doesn't change my analysis. Microsoft Rewards isn't just limited to earning points through your XBox. I honestly don't understand how Microsoft even gets value out of it. They hand out points like crazy, without even having to spend a dime.
You can earn points by purchasing things online too, but I just don't understand why you would ever need to do that when you're getting everything for free simply for doing daily tasks like using Bing as your search engine. I have switched to using it as my search engine during work hours and that is how I get the vast majority of my points.
ETA: I've purchased Far Cry 6 and Cyberpunk with only MS Rewards, and also purchased a controller using MS Rewards. I had saved up enough to get the XBox Series X straight up using only Rewards points, but decided All Access was a better value overall.
