I don't blame you. I'm tempted to get the switch. I do blame you for going to awful forums to read that nonsense about 4K crap. Luckily I don't know anyone that talks about that because I would slap them.

I just find it funny that this would be used as a reason to avoid a system that can actually play modern games.

I have a PC. I can play almost any game I want in whatever resolution I want not named a PS4 exclusive. I think you interpreted that a bit wrong.
It doesn’t turn me off at all to getting either system. But I already have a monster of a PC to be able to handle most of the games both of them have to offer. So really, if I didn’t have a big time gaming PC, id probably be singing a different tune. Nevertheless, a buddy of mine from work had a spare amount of money left, enough to be able to purchase something like an Xbox 1X or a PS4 Pro. I asked him why he wanted the XB1 and the literal only reason he gave me was to play all the games in native 4K.
I convinced him to put that towards that car he was looking towards
ETA: In other words, the talk about the PS4 and Xbox was mostly in jest.

The height of this statement is the irony is that Fornite is far more of a goofy stylized game than breath of the wild.
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll have fun playing it on Switch.
