IMO, Diablo 2 holds up better than almost any game.

I break it out and play it every few years still and it’s always fun. Hard to think I have been playing it consistently for 20 years.

I don't think any single baddie in any single video game has killed me as many times as Duriel. Love to hate that sumbitch

After the vanilla release? I couldn't judge since I never really played Vanilla.
But I also don't have much faith in Blizzard these days. We will see brother.

I love how Diablo 2 can still feel fresh, graphics aside, even after 20 years. Character building and questing seems to never truly get old. Honestly, the old graphics have a charm about them that go perfectly with the music and atmosphere of the game.
Diablo III ruined all of that, even though it was fun in quick bursts.
I swear it's the only old game I can go back to consistently and have a blast every time.
If there is a re-master I totally expect Blizzard to blow it but I probably end up giving it a shot.

It really does, it's amazing how a 20 year old game that people have played hundreds of hours of is still fun to play to this day. Everything about it works. More people are playing Diablo 2 regularly than Diablo 3 to this day.

I miss zealot paladins, hurricane druids, frozen sorcs with talrasha set for MF and teleporting everywhere. Hitting static field on bosses. I used to farm Mephisto. For loot, Baal for XP. Gotta be quick to pick up that loot! Only good thing D3 did was make your own loot drops

I sorta liked the madness of the FFA loot system in D2 though. Was fun to join pugs and try to steal all the good shite and watching someone rage if you got the unique that dropped, even though they were trying to snag it just the same as you.
