I was given a friends copy of Final Fantasy XIII

My friend finished the game and passed it along to me. First glance online is that I may be in way over my head. I don't play 360 too often and this seems like an advanced game. Has anyone played it and have any starting pointers?

Honestly, I didn't enjoy the game at all. I didn't finish it which is really saying something.

The combat sucked, the story wasn't good, and the characters weren't interesting.

Well I really dont mind a bad story or characters. I just like RPG where I can level up and buy shite. Like I said, I typically don't play much xbox, normally just sports games. I figured I'd change up things a little and actually play a game where I can progress

Get skyrim. Trade ff13 in for the 10 rupees or pesos or 1 yen or w.e its worth.
Better combat, story, leveling, gfx, customization, all of us could go on for pages.
For instance you could level some sort of trader/smooth talker on skyrim and just make money all day if you wanted...

great game, but no pointers needed. it's an "on rails" RPG and linear but still a fine game.

Nope but I did look it up online. Looks pretty cool. I may start out with FF XIII and if it isn't what I was looking for, then I'll go get Skyrim

Ignore all the haters. It isn't close to the best FF game, but its good at what it does. If you don't expect it to be FF6, you might like it. I enjoyed it.

Wrong. While I don't think it's as horrible as a lot of people, that doesn't mean it's a decent game but it's not pure trash, it is an incredibly easy game thanks to the "auto-battle" button and the fact that their is virtually no exploration for the entire game.

I've never understood the love FF7 gets. Sephiroth is a horrible emo villian, Cloud is a meh and the story is only ok.
FF9 is a much superior game (although Kuja is a worse major villian than Sephiroth.)
