When you play hardcore modes is their no mini map in the pause menu?
This is how I keep up with my teammates when playing solo and not having it is killing me.
ETA: The maps are MW3, only slightly bigger and with a ton of sightlines. There is shite EVERYWHERE that you have to navigate if you like to run and gun, but it makes it easy to flank campers.
It's fricking stupid that you have to put the Sat Com (UAV) on the ground. They get destroyed in 5 seconds by someone who just happens to run by it.

Played again last night and still had fun. I've only played TDM though. Call it good lobbies or what but I've witnessed hardly and camping, quickscopeing, Or kill streak chaos.
