I plan to give my Xbox one to a friend and would like them to be able to keep the games, but obviously not my Microsoft account. Is there a way I can do that? Without giving him my account and creating myself a new one? The internet is cryptic on this, and I hate myself for not buying disks.

From what I'm reading, the games are tied to my Microsoft account and if somebody takes my machine they can't play the games on it without my account information. Im trying to figure out if I can get around that. I dont mind giving up the username or whatever, ill never have another Xbox. I just want to be able to leave the games on it for them without them having all of my Microsoft account stuff.

From what I understand, if I had disks this would be a non issue.

Perhaps set your xbox up as a family account?

When you buy content or game from My Home Xbox, it lets you share games and other downloadable content from the store with anyone who signs in to that console. This is similar to the PC experience. Apart from this, you can also share an Xbox Live Gold subscription with your family members who sign in to the same console

I believe so. You could passcode lock your account if its a big deal. Set your friend an account upand follow the steps in the article and it seems like he will have access to your library and gold membership.
I’ve never tried it though so maybe someone can confirm/deny.

I let my nephew use my xbox and he created his own account. He is able to play all the games I have on that console that I bought on my account. I honestly don't think it matters. If it's downloaded on that system you can play it.

Not surprisingly, Nintendo has found a way to frick this process up. If Mrs. Vox wants to play anything I've purchased in the Switch store on hers, she has to have me create a login on her console and then it can only be played under my profile, despite her Switch being part of the Family Group).

if it works as it sounds and the same way as the PS4/PS5 work, you set up one xbox as your Home xbox and any games you buy on ur account can be played on any account on that xbox. then if you want to play your games on another xbox you can as long as you are signed into your user name only.

I gave my brother my PS4 and he can play any game i buy on it (he has to log on my name to download it). I can still play all my games also but only if i am logged in under my account. we can even play the same games with each other at the same time
