Anyone playing this? Was stealth-released by Tango Gameworks during the XBox Direct the other day. It's a blend of rhythm game and hack and slash game. My oldest was playing it last night and it looks like a lot of fun.

Prior to Hi-Fi Rush, Tango Gameworks developed The Evil Within and its sequel, as well as Ghostwire Tokyo. With the studio's history developing horror games, most fans assumed that its next project would follow suit. Hi-Fi Rush is a huge departure, but it appears the risk paid off for the team. The game even seems to be appealing to fans of PlayStation and Nintendo, so there's a chance the game could end up being a system seller for Xbox.

Gamepass users are obsessed with any title on the platform, because the platform sucks.

It doesn't look bad, i might play it when i renew again, but it's definitely not the 88 on metacritic that comes with whatever low budget indy title gamepass throws out.

Well, that's certainly a hot take. Not only are you completely wrong about Game Pass, but you're trashing a game you haven't even played. Amazing.

Looks pretty dang entertaining and the combat is interesting. My teenager is loving it so far. The Evil Within games were both pretty good, so I'm not sure how anyone would think that studio would come out with garbage.

At the time of this writing, Hi-Fi Rush, which was released on January 25, is the sixth best-selling game on Steam by revenue, under only giants like Hogwarts Legacy presales, the just-released Dead Space remake, CSGO and Destiny 2.

Forspoken, meanwhile, which was released on January 24, is the 58th best-selling game on Steam, priced at $70. That is…quite the difference.

Hi-Fi Rush is priced at $30 on Steam.

So they are selling 3:1(at the absolute minimum), but way less peak, and 5% more current players?

Forspoken looks pretty crap.

But I'm actually sitting here watching someone play it. Not even close to the same. Really enjoying it so far. Clear win for XBox and Game Pass.

I downloaded it last night to give it a try. I think it looks like fun, but I certainly wasn't going to buy it at full price.

In no way am i saying it looks like a bad game, but it seems like for both consoles, whatever they release just gets pumped by people on metacritic to these insane ratings. i guess i'm bitching about metacritic more than anything. An 88? That's almost a 9/10, near absolute perfection. Sorry, maybe i came off like i was attacking you or the game, wasn't meaning too.

Look at some of the other games on metacritic at 88. The last of us, starcraft!!!, BFBC2... metacritic needs to just die.

Is it worth it for $24 Steam? I realize I made my other topic about having no time but buying games is a disease.

Its fricking fun. Doesn't take itself seriously and unique button mashing combos. I love it.

I'd say so. The combat is very entertaining and it's got some pretty solid humor in it too.

Watched a vid of the first boss fight (only other content I've seen is the intro/beginning of the game) and it looks awesome. That NIN song though.. and even saw the streamer mode song to avoid copyright issues uses the NIN song beat they already licensed but has original lyrics? That's cool as frick.

And is deluxe edition worth the extra $8? Green Man prices.

This I don't know. This is what the Xbox store says is in the deluxe edition:

quote:

- Two Chai outfits*
- Seven bonus Chai t-shirts
- 808-Themed Guitar Skin
- 808 Alternate Skin
- 20,000 Gears for unlocking combat skills and other upgrades.

(Note: Gears are obtained through combat and exploration in-game and not available as a purchasable virtual currency.)

*Each of the Chai Outfits includes an alternate robot arm, scarf, jacket, trousers and shoes which can be mixed and matched with other cosmetics in-game.

If that's what is in the deluxe edition on steam, then I'd say it's not worth it.

So just to follow up on this thread: I couldn't be more impressed with this game. We are having a blast with it. If you're on the fence about buying it on Steam or you're thinking about putting it in your Game Pass backlog: pull the trigger. Play it now. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome. I'm not usually into rhythm games but this one does a great job with that mechanic.
