So I am looking at getting an ultrawide monitor. Want to be able to use it for gaming and work. I pulled the trigger on one of the Samsung 49" monitors but after thinking about it, 1080p is not a good long term investment even at $829.

Going to be shipping it back to Amazon.

I am in the position of not having the horespower to push 1440 or higher on a huge monitor, but also don't want to buy old tech. Would like this to last for years.

Any good advice on what to do? My ceiling is around $1500 but that is my "feel slightly ill" pricepoint. I don't want dual monitors as I dont want a bezel in the middle.

What would you buy right now? Or wait til Black Friday?

I'm waiting for Black Friday and I'm going dual 34" so you are now wasting your time reading this. Sorry.

Curious, How does the bezel not screw up gaming?

My setup is more for work, honestly. I have dual ultrawides here and I'd prefer to have the same setup when I RDP into my workstation from home.

I got the AOC Argon 49" Super Ultrawide after getting tired of waiting on Samsung to fix the G9 for $800 on amazon

Worth the price. 1440p 120hz.

27 inch on the left for reference

Just curious, does most games have supporting resolutions for these? What resolution does that run at?

You opened my eyes to this AOC. Yours have the USB C and KVM?

How about something like the LG 43UD79-B? It's $900.

Most of your large format are going to be productivity first, with gaming focus second, but that is a 4k LG monitor.

If you're sold on Samsung, but not the specific panel you bought, the LC49RG90SSNXZA is under $1150.

Well, I think you should look at upgrading your GPU first, then. If you already have questions, then it is already obsolete and any investment in monitor will be limited by your existing hardware, IMHO.

Don’t buy a big 1080p monitor. That sounds awful.

I have this CM 34” 3440x1440. AMA:

Cooler Master 34" 21:9 Curved Frameless Ultrawide WQHD Gaming QLED Monitor 3440x1440P, 1500R VA Panel, 1ms 144Hz HDMI Built-in Speakers and VESA Mounting with Height and Tilt Adjustment, AMD FreeSync2 LINK

Was looking at that too.

That AOC with the KVM is very intriguing to me. I want to have my one keyboard and mouse and be able to easily set down my work laptop and plug it into a USB C and toggle between my PC and my laptop.
