Those idiots are the exact same as the blue haired septum piercing libtards. Both sides of the attention-starved performative bullshitter coin.
They’ll discuss everything but the game and when they do try to “discuss” it it’s all empty calorie buzzwords thrown together like tokens of anti-wokeness to impress themselves and believe they are accomplishing something worthwhile.

It's not revolutionary more so that it's one of if not the most anticipated games of all time. It's a sequel of the one of the most iconic gaming franchises ever and it's been brewing for 13 years.
So many features that people wanted that were in RDR 2 and San Andreas are in this game. Not to mention it's a more unique storyline for GTA as it's Bonnie and Clyde story offers up as the first GTA game to have a woman as a playable character which does mean something to some gamers.
The game may not be as great as some hype it to be but it's highly likely that it's going to be extremely good as Rockstar does not miss. Dipshits like Road and Fatboy who hyperfocus on women in the game or Jason not bitch smacking his girl for talking back to him are the weird outliers.

No it doesn't. The group of gamers "asking for this" doesn't exist. The industry was nearly destroyed because they believed the lie that a "modern audience" exists. It's amazing there are still people who believe this is a thing.
GTA will sell massive numbers based on its reputation and history. Not because there's a female protagonist. If they made it woke (we don't yet know that they did), the next one will bomb and bomb hard.

Allow me to clarify
I am interested in having discourse about it contained to this board which is very small and for the most part consist solely of again a rather small handful of the same posters always having discussions.
It breeds an environment where it’s more interesting because you actually come to know the personally of posters, their tastes, their politics, etc and most people here usually keep things at least somewhat level headed
What I have no desire to partake in is the X discourse where everything devolves into pure tribalism. It’s either the best thing ever made and even the though of countenancing it isn’t is anathema, or it is total garbage when the reality is neither or true but at least from what I’ve seen the game is literally doing nothing new. It just looks like an extremely high budget video game that is extremely well made technically that’s very pretty and insane attention to detail. If they would update their shooting mechanics they haven’t touched in over 20 years that might be nice though.
I hope I answered your query

Capcom does a yearly survey that totally backs you up and blows the entire narrative about “muh gamers are 50/50” out of the water.
Capcom, who makes mostly entire some form of action game, almost always comes out 93% male 7% female.
There is no untapped female audience

Kind of but not really. I still don’t understand why you want to talk and argue with people about a game that you don’t care about and will never play. But you do you man.

The "untapped female audience" plays mobile games. If they venture into RPG-style games, it's for the social aspect like WOW. The "modern audience" people just can't seem to understand that group isn't going to be switching over to consoles to play games like GTA 6, fighting games, Final Fantasy-style games, etc.
The most crossover is with Nintendo games like Mario, LoZ, etc, but Nintendo isn't embracing this push at all. Their continued success flies in the face of the mantra of what games companies should be doing to attract the "untapped modern audience."

100%
We have known this for an extremely long time mostly by studying how male and female children play differently with toys.
They have done this study many many times and it’s been replicated to death.
If you give a boy an action figure he will start playing with it AS the action figure. Meaning if it’s Batman he will play out a story with his action figure acting like he knows Batman to behave.
When girls are given a toy they don’t play with them as the character they are, they desire to make the character something they embody themselves
This is simple known stuff and any idiot can apply it to gaming and come away with the correct conclusion

Much of the push is from people who want everything you stated to be wrong because it flies in the face of their beliefs that there are no discernible differences between genders. Acknowledging what you stated here is detrimental to their entire belief system.

I remember people complaining before San Andreas was released that Rockstar was basucally the form of woke back then because the main character was black.
And San Andreas turned out to be one of the most fun GTA games

No, you don't remember that. The left wasn't using the term "woke" then and media companies weren't trying to push DEI on everyone.
Unfortunately, San Andreas also wasn't as good as Vice City.

It was SJW's back then. They're all the same BS panic attacks, just a different name slapped on.

This term also did not exist when San Andreas was released. Anyone claiming there were complaints about San Andreas having a black protagonist is simply lying.
The reasonable and completely understandable complaints about destroying video games/movies/etc by trying to attract a "modern audience" via DEI, or whatever else you want to call it, started because of practices from media companies, not out of any misplaced understanding of what was happening at any given time.

It blows my mind that people still deny that sometime in the early 2010s there began a deliberate campaign to infiltrate the video game industry using HR to filter new hires making sure they hold the cultural sensibilities sought after while at the same time creating an increasingly hostile work space to anyone they deemed wasn’t progressive socialist enough and at some companies just white men in general.
You can literally see this happening in real time as the quality of the games in the AAA industry further began to decline in quality and stagnate in innovation as the people who built the video game industry that they stole were all pushed out.
The idea I’ve seen some people put forth that video games in western AAA today are littered generally with obnoxious politics is because conservatives can’t make art and don’t know how to make games is insane revisionist history.
Who do you (not singling you out using you as a generalist term) think built the video game industry? It was the chuds. Progressives who have an interest in following the Gramschi model realized way too late the important of video games as medium unlike things such as movies or books so they were forced to move too fast and too sloppy making it way more obvious in video games than other institutions.
The pendulum is swinging back, and this isn’t to say we don’t get good games, we do. We still get some amazing games but we also have way more shitty games than ever and AAA games are more homogeneous than ever because again, they pushed out all the most talented people who were white men and even some women like Amy Henning, so now they are basically left with people who can barely make games so they’re forced to use Unreal Engine 5 further making all their slop feel the same.
Again, the tide is turning though. All of these layoffs are going to help bring the industry to a more sustainable size and the explosion in very high quality AA and indie games at the same China and Korea are entering as players in prestige single player adventure games is eventually one way or another going to force western AAA and some Japanese studios to actually make good games again.

"Gamergate" was in 2014, which is when this entire backlash started. There was no widespread outrage about San Andreas having a black protagonist due to anything approaching "woke ideology" because media simply wasn't doing anything like that at the time.
It's a complete lie that simply cannot be supported with any evidence.
In fact, the main criticisms again San Andreas at the time mirror the garbage "woke" arguments we see today, not the opposite. San Andreas was widely supported by actual gamers, and widely opposed by the people infesting the gaming industry today. It's even shown on the wikipedia page.
quote:
Some critics and scholars criticised the game for perpetuating racial stereotypes.[102][103][104][105] Seeing Black's Esther Iverem condemned the series for "validating ... an accepted caricature" rather than teaching respect and tolerance.[105] Dean Chan felt the series's protagonist shift from Tommy (an Italian American) to CJ (an African American) without subverting archetypes made it "complicit in the pathologization and fetishization of race".[106]: 25 Paul Barrett found its disregard and decontextualisation of institutional racism's structures suggest "that the problems that African Americans experience is due to individual failure", reinforced by the concept that white players can simply experience "black identity".[107]: 114 A Games and Culture study found youth groups "do not passively receive the games' images and content": white players expressed concern about its racial stereotypes, while African American players used it "as a framework to discuss institutional racism".[108]: 264, 279 Rachael Hutchinson considered San Andreas "a critical reflection on racial conflict in America" and found several criticisms were based on limited viewings instead of the whole story.[109]: 174–175 Kotaku opined some in-game interactions could be portrayed as a lack of racism, such as characters conversing without moderating vocabularies or commenting on others'.[110] 1Up.com's Parish lauded the references to Rodney King's assault and the sophisticated writing addressing race in South Central Los Angeles.[101] David J. Leonard felt politicians and legislators were more concerned about the game's violent and sexual content than its racial stereotypes.[104]: 268

Gamergate in retrospect was a battle we definitely lost at the time pretty handily because the normies were no where near ready to entertain our side of the fight.
We have definitely won the war though even if it took over a decade.

Because the other side never stops pushing. They always take everything too far. They find "the middle," run it over, and then continue full speed ahead.
