Log into the Social Club and click on the lifeinvader, it's like facebook or something. Once there, you will see business from the world of Grand Theft Auto V, stalk (like) them and you will receive in game benefits.

Log in to your Social Club account(The email and password to login to Live Invader is the same as your Social Club's)...and click on Life Invader.Then stalk basically everything...It's fun and created!...& EASY!

I guess what's confusing to me is I don't see where it linked to my gamer tag.

When you log in to your Social Club account.
Go to your profile, on the left you will see your linked accounts. If you see your Xbox Live Gamertag or your Playstation Network ID then it is linked and you are good to go.
You can click on your friends from the friends list and see what machine they are playing on as well as their Xbox Live Gamertag or Playstation Network. ID.
