Yes frozen wild was much harder. I picked the game of the year edition up last summer and I accidentally went to the DLC area early in the game and I was destroyed.
I do all of the quests and farm and max everything so by the time I went back to the DLC it was still harder but workable at that point.
Witcher 3 was the same. Godlike at end of the game and immediately destroyed by those damn spiders when moving into the DLC.

I'm playing through GOW right now. Not sure I like the fighting. Story is great though.

The combat is extremely well done in the game. Mechanics of that damn ax snapback is the greatest feeling ever.

Everything about the game is polished. Acting, score, story and combat. If you don't like God of War stop playing games.

The game is not made for fast combat like the old games were. There's a delay on blocking, most enemies are faster and more maneuverable than you, and you're always facing the wrong way.
