what part of, let's not go beyond Genesis or SNES do you not understand about his post?
When was this decided? Just go with the origins of each current system.

The xbox and playstation controller are obsolete and about as far from timeless as you can get. No thanks
They are timeless in that Sony and Microsoft wouldn't know gaming innovation if it bit them on the arse.
Especially Sony.
The controllers basically haven't changed

They made one huge innovation back in the day, they made console gaming go CD... oh damn, my bad:
you are correct

It's hilarious how blantantly Sony copies Nintendo.
At least Microsoft tries to do their own thing. And Kinect is pretty awesome.
Sony releases PS controller.
Nintendo shows N64 controller, with a gaming revolution called the analog stick.
Sony goes back and just slaps two sticks on their controller. You know...because if one is good, then two is better.....right?
Years later the Wiimote comes out with great success....and then the Playstation move comes out, looking shockingly similar.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but this thread has nothing to do with console innovation or the lack thereof.

Holy cow, people. This isn't supposed to be a discussion on the history of video games. It's just to pick something that looks good.

It's a tangent, yes.
But the original point stays the same.
Stick to retro because so many of us associate that with gaming.
Leave the flavor of the month current consoles out of it.
Anyone whose nostalgic memories of gaming involve a PS2 or Xbox controller don't have votes that count as far as I am concerned.

Understating a bit there.

What system are the hipsters endorsing?
I have nostalgic memories from all systems. That's just how it works. I accept change.

In the voting sense, and when we finally get down to voting for it. If we stay retro, I think everyone wins. We try to put anything from the current gen into this.. there will be blow-back. That's my only thought on this.
The console wars are bad enough as is, let's leave them out and just go retro, and stay simple. It's THAT simple.

that's pushing it.. there are plenty of gamers who post on here that go back to only the ps2 or xbox. But that's also the problem, the console wars have also caused a lot of strife, and I think we should stay away from that 150%

I am not sure you know what nostalgic means....
Posted on 12/20/12 at 10:36 am to Siderophore
Pretty sure I do. Stuff I'm nostalgic for would be different then someone who grew up in the 50's. See how that works? It's not one set thing.

Stout, could you just give us 2-3 choices with the ps2 shaded blue colors.
and then see if you can add the power button as the period (if it looks ok)
then give us a few options with other 1st gen controllers?
I would actually say make the power button green for xbox, and put the ps2 controller (somehow, however you see fit) in since aesthetically speaking, it was the best looking plug in ps controller.
So basically:
1. What we have now
2. With just the added power button in blue
3. add a ps2 controller and turn the power button neon green
I think that might satisfy everyone, and then we can discuss.
