Loved the first one. Didn't do early access on this one, was waiting for the full game to be released. Was tired of playing the first one and waiting on updates and content.

Will be downloading tonight.

Survival
Base building
Big monsters
Deep scary ocean

Fun fun fun!

If you're interested, here's the youtube link to Cohhcarnage's current playthrough of the game. Good streamer.

Played the first one for like 2 minutes. I want to like it. But im one of those people that just has an INSANE phobia of water in video games. Literally the only phobia i have. I just cant do it.

Same, the first Subnautica was one of the most insanely terrifying games I've ever played.

It's great though.

DLC or stand alone sequel/expansion? I bought a bunch of games on sale around Thanksgiving, but got stuck playing RDR2 for a LONG time. Subnautica was in the batch but I haven't played it yet.

Stand alone. Sequel to the first.

Different characters and story I believe.

There is something authentic when the computer says “”Warning: multiple leviathan class life forms detected. Are you sure what you are doing is really worth it?”

I played the first one on Xbox. It was fun but good lord it was full of bugs. I was constantly falling through floors and getting stuck. I would lose hours of game play because the game just wouldn't save sometimes. It also took at least ten minutes for the game to load. If it wasn't for all that it would probably be one of the better games I've played. Definitely the scariest. The first time I was attacked by a leviathan I almost fell out my chair. I'd consider getting the new one if all the bugs are fixed.

I console commanded my way to all the achievements on the first one. Hope someone's done that with this one too!

I've been trying to play the first one. I know I'm not supposed to, but I hoard pretty much everything.

Just started this a few days ago, I like it better than the first one. That probably has a lot to do with playing Freedom instead of Survival though. So much easier to progress through the story and build more stuff without having to worry about eating and drinking constantly.

Story is definitely more cohesive. I got lost about 16 hours into the first one and gave up because I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing.
