Jeff Luhr has officially joined IMV Gaming in their attempt to bring back CFB video games. Luhr was the creative director for EA NCAA Football and was called the “heart” of the game by a former employee.

IMV on twitter:

Our company understands that we need to surround ourself with experienced software developers. With that in mind, we are very excited to announce a new member of our team! @JeffLuhr has agreed to join the company’s advisory board! #BringBackGreatness #GridironChampions

He has worked on 45 video games over 20 years. 16 of those years he was the Creative Director for EA Sports and worked on games like Madden and NCAA Football. He has agreed to be a part of their “advisory board” and they’ll attempt to retain him when the development process begins

Bamafan15 be like

I’ve honestly pretty much given up. I don’t think it’s a scam, bc they’re issuing refunds to people, but you never know. It’s been 3 years now and when you go back and look at year 1 and compare it to now, it’s still the same. Nothing has changed. It’s just “We are in negotiations and can’t say anything.”, “You’ll hear more very soon”, etc. They also told everyone awhile back they had an agreement in place to receive all the money needed, but then they said they haven’t received it and won’t for awhile. Just nothing adds up with IMV

Lol I still stand by most of that statement. I still don’t ever expect anything to come of this, but I just found this interesting and wanted to share. I’ve never donated a penny to them and never will

As long as EA holds the licenses to the leagues and the players they have a monopoly on sports games.

EA sports game don't succeed on their merit or quality, they succeed by default because they are the only "real" sports games you can buy.

Yeah, blame EA, th only publisher willing to continue to keep up with it’s college games later than anyone else (basketball outlasted 2k two seasons and football outlasted Game Day by a decade..) not all the guys looking to make a quick buck by suing for their likeness in the games.

EA holds the exclusive rights to the NFL and FIFA and nothing else.

Why can't EA and the NCAA make a deal where all teams would come with generic players that all look the same. Random numbers, etc. If consumers wanted to edit them later that's their prerogative. I don't see why that would be a problem but maybe I am an idiot.

Doesn’t work like that.

Nobody is buying a generic game, and if the devs publish tools that allow users to violate intellectual property laws, the IP holders can go after the developers.

You can look to NBA2k as an example. People go to great lengths to convert NBA uniforms and stadiums to NCAA, but the extent that work is allowed to be used on the 2k servers is severely restricted.

The only way I can think they could potentially skirt the trademark issue would be to allow modding to take place in the offline dynasty. But I doubt most people would want to put in the time to mod 100+ teams and stadiums to play a season.

i'm really surprised that a developer never "secretly" developed the rosters with the tools given to him and released them same day as the game.

i always thought they could release them for free after the game released. that way, technically, they never made money off of the rosters when the game sold.

What’s so special about a Dev’s Roster? What “tools” are given to him?

Madden 18 & 19 are done by an official employee and they’re shite. I’d rather the OS rosters.

ETA: same goes with sliders. The madden leagues I’ve been in over the years have some guys who believe EA’s sliders are “best” just because it’s EA. EA is only there to sell copies and make MUT fun. Just because it’s from a Dev doesn’t make it any better than a random joe on Op Sports

i'm just saying it's easier for a dev to plug in names with the software/hardware he has for development of the game when compared to some kid's console controller.
