I need a good PC flight simulator and a stick. Anybody have any experience with these? Don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money but don't want crap either.

X-plane is the current best one.

Microsoft Flight is a cool free to play game set it hawaii which you should check out. You have to pay for more planes and alaska expansion, but it is still fun.

War thunder is fun but dont expect it to be a flight sim per se. People that use mouse controls have an advantage over stick users.

War Thunder has casual, Realistic and then hardcore(or something similar) where you can only fly cockpit mode, you have to worry about oil pressure, etc. I believe you also are only able to use a joystick in the hardest mode.

Right now, XPlane is your best choice. MS Flight is being shut down in October, and MS is planning on re-releasing FSX on Steam. They have also sold the FS rights to Dovetail Games, the makers of Train Simulator so there is hope for the future of the franchise.

Yeah, I have done the realistic option and it isn't exactly like flying a real plane. It is well worth playing since its free to play, just wouldnt be my first choice when it comes to "flight Sim".

That being said I have put many hours into the game and it is a lot of fun.

Xplane is more realistic but Microsoft flight sim is more fun because of all the missions you can participate in. My flight school had both and I found myself using xplane more then MS solely because I wanted some good practice when I was working on my instrument rating.

Agreed. Microsoft has a ton of polish. Xplane certainly does not. Their user interface is pretty horrible.

Broke, are you looking for incredibly detailed? Pretty detailed but fun? Arcadey?

Sorry I forgot about this. I'll take the flight stick (It's actually for my neighbor). This whole thread is for a neighbor who asked me to help him. He's looking for fun and mildly detailed. He has flight experience.

and let me know when you get this email down so I can delete it.
