I just put together my first PC last night. Considering i'd rank myself at a level 0 as far as knowledge on the matter goes, I think I did a decent job. However, when I power it on, it will just sit there and power cycle on its own. It will boot up and everything will be going, then it will shut off after a few seconds. Then it will boot back on again and repeat.

Any ideas what the issue is and what I did wrong?

Have you tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in?

1. Make sure memory modules are installed correctly and in correct slots.

2. Try booting with 1 memory module in the first slot.

3. Try all memory modules in first slot.

4. Is it in a bootloop? Or just screen black? Make sure GPU is installed in PCIe slot 1 and display plugged into GPU and not MOBO.

Buy a snowball.

Yep. I double checked all the cables and everything and it kept having the issue. That's when I decided to call it a night as I at least had it to the point that the power worked to some degree

Is it beeping during the bootup process? If so, how many beeps and what sort of pattern?

How far in the boot cycle does it get? Do you ever see the Windows logo? Are you even getting video?

Make sure your CPU cooling fan is spinning. Overheating takes time, but if the system detects the CPU fan being off it will shut things down (though this should happen with the BIOS and warn you that it is happening).

Are you getting to the Windows splash screen?

If you launch the BIOS, will the computer remain up and running the entire time? If so, then your hard drive or OS load is the issue.

It’s almost always something very simple and generally something you think is seated properly isn’t.

It was the RAM. I had them in slots 2 & 4. Moved to 1 & 3 and everything worked wonderfully after that.

Thanks for the help everyone.
