All rumors, apparently credible ones, say Dante. Which sucks big time. Another sword fighter. An unlikable hero. Just blah. Would have much rather Ryu Hiyasbasi or something if we were going for that. Or Geno, Waluigi, etc.

If that's true, then they haven't come out with a single DLC character that I wanted yet (except piranha plant). I'm so glad I didn't pay for the fighter pass.

Just adjectives. I’m not disturbed by the prospect. Whoever they choose will be put through a kiddie arcade filter, so I’m not expecting anything visceral in any event.
The other theory floated aside from Dante is Sora and I’m over all the weeb shite for the fighters pass. I’d take Dante over a kingdom hearts rep any day of the week.
If we get a capcom rep, I can think of several I’d rather have than Dante though. Nemesis from Resident Evil, Haggar from Final Fight, Arthur from Ghost and Goblins, Frank West from dead rising.

Dante is a "boring" character for Smash. He isn't someone I would be "excited" to play.

I honestly don’t give a flying shite who gets added so long as they have an entertaining move set. I’d prefer it be something besides another esoteric Japanese rpg character but I had some fun with Hero despite not being up on dragon quest so in sakurai I trust.
