I actually like dealing on eBay rather then Facebook most times. Don't have to deal with shoddy buyers that ghost you and I don't have to leave my house. Sure you there are fees, but you should be getting more for it on eBay then you could locally
What kind of people are you dealing with? Kid literally drove to my house from Mississippi to buy my 3070. Still help him out with undervolting, etc, on Discord on occasion

People that constantly flake and ghost, wont make a deal unless you drive to their mom's house, etc, but I used to deal with a lot more than computer parts on Facebook. Much rather make a deal from my computer and walk to my mailbox then have to get out and meet someone

you can sell it in the fixit discord server. a bunch of shite is for sell there. only thing is you can't scalp for 2-3x the price.

That makes more sense. The root of my surprise was that you would be dealing with those kinds of people for high end PC parts.

Same here, tried selling a PS5 on Facebook. frick that noise.

Warning to anyone upgrading to a Ryzen 5900 or above:
DO NOT use the MSI MPG Gaming Edge Wifi MOBO. Motherfricker had my CPU running idle in the 70s to 80s and under a light load in the 90s. It was awful.
Swapped in an ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero and saw immediate improvements. Idles in the low 50s or 40s and load temps in the 70s.
Apparently that MSI MOBO has a severe VRM cooling issue. I don't know how it does with other CPUs, but I would not use it with the higher end CPUs.

Poor VRM shouldn’t necessarily make the cpu cores or package run hot. It should just make your cpu power delivery less stable. If I were throwing a dart, I would guess that motherboard has an internal OC setting that was causing your cpu to draw vastly more voltage than it should, causing increased temps. I would be curious if you cleared CMOS if the problem would persist.

I could have troubleshot some more before ditching it, but in ky searches I found multiple reviews where people found that MOBO just straight up ran hot AF. It lined up with what I was seeing so I just decided to cut bait and run.
I did verify MSI's auto-overclock feature was off in the BIOS, and updated the BIOS.

For the record, I'm definitely not saying it's not the motherboard's fault. It almost certainly is (unless you did something software side like changing a Ryzen Master setting). Was just pointing out that a board having shitty VRM just means the VRM temps are going to be sky high, which will cause your boost clocks to run lower, and will frick up any attempts at overclocking. But your core temps shouldn't be affected.
But yeah, tons of little settings in the bios that can mess with things. It's why major tech benchmarkers *never* compare results between motherboards. If you change the test bench, you have to re-run all of your tests. Just too much variance in the more behind the scenes auto features in each proprietary bios.

At this point I’m pretty convinced that there will never be a time where a man can just casually walk into a Best Buy/Walmart etc and buy a PS5/XBox lol

I saw a 1030 gpu behind the glass display on my Bestbuy trip last week

check your local best buy stores over the next month. they should be getting nvidia FE cards. use the best buy app trick on your phone.
search "RTX"
turn on "in stock"
view results
if you don't see anything, that store probably doesn't have any. if that's the case, move on to the next store.

I’m torn between wanting stock to stay low so my resale value stays up, and wanting everyone to go out and buy cards now so there is less demand for the RTX 4xxx

Posted on 3/7/22 at 10:25 pm to Joshjrn
well it still seems impossible to get anything close to MSRP but it seems like theres more stock coming available albeit at the heavily scalped prices. bestbuy hasnt had a drop since the total tech paywall almost a month ago so hopefully they restock this week.
I highly doubt ETH will be going POS by the time the 4xxx series is released so i assume the demand for those will be sky high, and demand for the 3xxx only eased to minor-moderate scalped prices. will be interesting to see what happens to the GPU landscape when ETH2.0 drops. i assume some miners will liquidate their hardware but they could potentially just switch to mining other coins. but then the LHR cards wont be any form of deterrent for miners and demand for the 3xxx series goes back up.

they've actually been dropping in-stores since that TT drop. you gotta check the app to see if your store is getting anything. all FE cards by the way.

havent had any luck with that. I checked out a couple stores in person after checking via the app, but was always told they didnt have any in store after asking to check the SKU

How do you check in store? They all say sold online only?
Posted on 3/8/22 at 9:33 am to bamabenny
that's just the way they have the site coded. if you have your store setup, search RTX or Founders Edition, and turn the "In Stock" switch on. if you see a card listed, that store will have that card in stock. it will either be stocked inventory card or a cancelled online order. you'll more than likely have to talk to an associate to get it.
just checking alabama stores, it appears that Dothan and Huntsville have a 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti.

Newegg with massive restock. Still holding stock too.
Grabbed me an Asus TUF 3070ti for $699.

Employees at Walmart said they don't believe they would ever get them in the stores because people would fight over them.
