EVGA XC3 Gaming 3080ti queue looks like it dried up (not surprising). But doubt I'll get one before my coupon expires now. Add that to the underwhelming reviews for it (less performance than the FE), I'll probably refocus on a 3080 FE non-ti card, and for the first time I'm actually considering ramping up my efforts for a 6800 XT. Crazy world. Just hoping to manage to grab either one by this December at MSRP.

I’ll sell you this 6700xt for $600 plus shipping if you want it, I paid $479.99 plus tax

nah, that's not a bad price. i just wanted to say what i said.

If the market is still sky high on my full hash 3070fe when I replace it, the price I sell it for will be predicated entirely on how close I am to the buyer. Close friend? MSRP. Acquaintance? MSRP plus tax plus another $100 or so. Random who wants to mine ETH? I'll take my double MSRP, thank you, much

Nah, I got my girl to go with me and grab one.

I was surprised to see how many opted for the 3080ti when they still had 3090s. Don’t see why you wouldn’t pay a couple hundred extra and get the big boy

Probably the _ _80Ti stigma.

In fairness, there are some cases/builds that simply can't accommodate a 3090. For example, while my case can easily handle it, I would need a different vertical mount, as mine can only accommodate a two slot card. Or go horizontal, which I don't want to do.
Then again, I think the 3080ti is a shite value, so I'd rather just have a 3080, anyway

Exactly this. I'm in a HTPC/SFF build that can't fit a 3090 dimensionally. Can fit a 3080/3080ti however. Was gonna grab the 3080ti if I could get it through the EVGA queue below MSRP. But ideally I'll be able to grab a 3080 if not.

for gaming purposes, its simply not worth it.
the 3090 was never meant to be a gaming flagship. its a multi-tasking card meant for heavy memory usage.
the differences between the two in gaming benchmarks are almost negligible. at $300 more, you're paying about $100 per frame on popular titles.
that money could definitely be used on other hardware rather than a 1-2% frame increase on "some" games imo.

Great price, but does anyone know what that case is? It looks like a hot box, which would get me very nervous with an air cooled 5800x.

Appears to be an Asus Rog Strix branded one (not sure on the model) but they have their own cases for pre-builts.
based on the hardware and price. its a great deal. I'd just run it with the glass panel off and make sure to clean it often. dust is really not a big deal when you keep air duster handy at all times.

quote:I snagged one when it was $1529 a couple weeks ago but ended up cancelling. Read way too many reviews saying the cooling is atrocious. If I'm spending that much on a PC, I want it to be ready to go rather than having to change out a case or install a bunch of fans. I'm just going to continue waiting until I can find a 3080
here's a 5800x/3070 combo for $1699 (prebuilt)

I think that comes down to what you have now. If your rig does what you need it to, great. But if there's someone out there who has nothing, or functionally nothing, buying this and transferring everything into a decent $60 airflow case isn't a bad option if they can't otherwise get their hands on a gpu.

I don't have a PC right now - I'd be buying to play Call of Duty, but I currently play on an Xbox. It gets the job done for now which is why I'm not hard pressed to buy an inflated PC at the moment.

Then yeah, basically the same thing. If you can do what you want to do in the interim, then sit tight.
I'm just sympathetic to people who are just flat stuck right now. I completed my first build in... October of 2020. If I were still sitting here in July with nothing, I'd be getting pretty desperate

or even spending a mere 30 bucks on a pack of fans that might take 10 minutes to install that would instantly drop the temps probably 10-15c
its not uncommon for prebuilts to come without case fans. (aside from the rear exhaust)
I bet this thing cools just fine with an additional 2-4 fans.
I just sent that link to a few friends who need an upgrade. thats a killer deal tbh.
