The fundamental changes to the story don't really make it super "faithful" in my eyes. I always interpreted faithful as being pretty consistent with the original article. This game seems much different on many levels. The demo is probably the most similar the game will be and that's not saying a lot.

There are some real changes and meaningful additions. It is not just minor changes. It doesn't mean it won't be a good story but people will not get the same story. Without spoiling anything not in the trailers, the shades, Clouds issues and Sephiroth being revealed so early should be enough to tell.
I have some gripes with it, but i have only saw it in written form and not in execution.

Two pages arguing what a "remake" is 
Story will mostly be the same, expanding Midgar to add more content.
Dialogue was re-written to flow better in voice and fix the terrible English translation.

So you think SE only made the demo similar to the original game and that those of us who buy it get past that point....nothing will be the same....nothing?

Just saw on reddit users in Australia are picking up their copies now. I hope they go ahead and release early in the US.
