Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within movie does it tie into the game?

I like the movie and never playing any of the FF games, does it tie into any of them?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. And the final fantasy games themselves don't really tie into each other with the exception of 1 or 2 games.
They all have similarities, like you'll have chocobos and maybe a character named Cid somewhere, but that's the extent of it.

It doesnt tie in. But it is really good if you are a fan of the series. I actually almost bought one of the watches. Just could never convince myself to pull the trigger.
Advent Children does tie in heavily to 7 though. If youve never seen it.

Most FF fans I've ever talked to absolutely hated this movie, mainly because they called it FF. But they'll admit, on it's own, it's pretty good. "If they just would have called it something else..."

There are a few Easter eggs hidden in the film, there is a Cid, a Chocobo appearance, references to Gaia.
Most people trash this film for not being Final Fantasy enough, I say they missed the adventure completely.
