How do you get free packs?

If you played FUT last year, you can get two free packs now by logging on to the ultimate team web app. If you've got ultimate/special edition (for pre-orders I believe) you'll get 4/3 free gold packs a month for 6 months.

For those of you that don't know, FUT sort of like manager mode, but with trading cards, you strive to build the best team, you can also play people online, so it can be played like an online manager mode just with no actual seasons, just cups.

ETA: Here's my team for this season after getting my 2 free packs for playing last year, and doing a bit of trading

so wait, do you have a full squad of player controlled people? Being a goalie would suck...I enjoy being a defender on fifa but if I was playing as one guy for a whole match I'd probably get a redcard trying to tackle a guy from a bad angle.

Damn man, you guys are hardcore. There was a group of us that started a club last year and had a lot of fun with it. So if you wan't to play clubs with no fear of being benched and still win some games you can check us out. What do you want them to change in clubs other than custom tactics? They may have made some changes, but I think the game engine change is more of their focus.

Saintsfan:For pro clubs, you have a bunch of people using their vp playing one position. You don't have to have a goalie or anything else, the cpu will take those spots if you don't have 11(which we never did). In fact it is hard to get a game if you have a keeper and/or more than 5 humans playing. Like EZ said, it is by far the most fun format of any sports game I have ever played.

I thought the same but it's actually really fun.

Same here, it is amazing how playing with the same people for so long, you learn each other's tendencies, just like IRL. The more you play with people the better your team got. It was also interesting when a "new guy" came in and no matter how good they were, it took multiple games for everyone to adjust.

So, if I haven't played a FIFA game aside from the South Africa World Cup version, how much of a learning curve am I facing?

Probably the same as someone who played 11. At least defensively. The offensive controls have been similar since the WC version. The feel is different, but that is always the case. I would think you would be fine.

Awesome. I downloaded it via EA Season Ticket, but have been too wrapped up in College football, Madden Franchise games, and NHL to try it last night. I might give it a go sometime today.

I forgot to explain that the defensive controls have completely changed since 11 so we are all starting from square one on them. Out of curiosity, how big is the download file through the season ticket. I thought about doing this, but I figure that the file is so big, it may not be worth it.

it's absolutely worth it. You get a leg up on the competition (no pun intended). I can't remember what the download size was but I know that I have Playstation Plus and have my PS3 set to automatically turn on and download game patches, games, and other demos. So when I woke up yesterday morning it was downloaded and installed. The PS3 was only on for a 2 hour window.

Can you hold your own against the computer on professional yet? Not necessarily always win, but play, that's where you need to be for online IMO, or it was in previous games.

I didn't try playing against the computer yet. There's just too many things to do in soccer for me. This is why I never buy soccer games lol. There's lob pass, through pass, straight pass, you can use the L2 or left trigger (depending on your system) to do like 20 different moves with the ball lol. I'm getting too old for complex games like this.

I wouldnt mind playing on tbe pro club. Its def harder and will take time getting used to the defensive controls. I have to change the wag i play completely.

Yep, when I was playing the demo, it seemed like the less I tried to do, the better the D was. Which is way more realistic than the balls to the wall pressure that FIFA11 allowed. There is rarely a time in real soccer when the ball is pressured non stop by multiple people. Defenders just seemed to recover from being out of position way to quickly, so you rarely could exploit teams for ball chasing.

So, I lost 3 games in a row and thought that I had no shot at winning a single game. Then I played another game, and I WON! 1-0. Then I had my confidence up a bit, and went and played another game..ended in a 0-0 draw. So I am now 1-1-3
