They outsourced this release.

And GTA V...for the third console.
Yeah..PS3 had 3 GTA games, GTA 5 has had 3 consoles lol
They could have had epic DLC over the past decade with that map alone.

quote:well it usually all comes down to money. Which they have plenty of.
there's more to the licensing issue than just being "too cheap"
Don't call it the "Definitive Edition" if you are not going to have all the original music...+ more actually. Should have got a whole new channel or two in each game.

Someone from Microsoft was on a podcast recently talking about the effort it takes to make their old games backwards compatible, and he said the biggest hurdle is the licensing. The original license either only applies to the first run of the game or for a certain amount of time. Then they have to start over renegotiating. Sometimes the owner of the license doesn't want to allow the song into the game, sometimes ownership changes hand and they either don't know who owns it or the new owner isn't as accommodating as the previous one. Or the asking price for the license is just too much.
Business decisions have to be made.

If that's the biggest hurdle, it makes what they released even more of a joke.
The music was my biggest concern about the game prior to launch, even though Rockstar being so secretive about how the games would actually look was a red flag.
I played Vice City and San Andreas for a few hours on launch night and was surprised that it seemed like 95% of the music was still in the game, which was great.
Pretty much everything else about the game was a joke. They've released a few updates but I still haven't played it since launch night because it's hard to believe that they've had time to fix everything that was wrong with the games...even though at least one of the updates seemed pretty major.

It needs the realism mod for updated playability. Fans want to see what these games would have looked like had they been released now. We played the originals for decades.
You need more music, stations, voices, sounds, etc. Audio needs to be remixed, remastered, overhauled and new audio all together as far as npc and real world elements go.
More clothing and weapons. Hell, let Tommy vercetti take swimming lessons and create an achievement..so many possibilities flushed down the shitter.

If they had came out with a remaster of these games that looked as good as GTA V, I would have happily paid 60 dollars for each game..at least Vice City and San Andreas.
As far as music goes, the more the better. I'd be thrilled to pay for DLC packs of new music, radio station commercials, and talk radio segments. Not sure why Rockstar never offers anything like that.

Rockstar has become the king of pissing away good opportunities to please their fans. Read dead 2 was one of the best games of its console generation and we got no single player dlc. Not even a somewhat decent online mode.

They outsourced this release.
The 3 games that the long time fans of the series hold closest to heart..have played for many years, San andreas is the most successful game ever on PS2, games that defined a gaming generation..
Instead of the respect, that the games and fans deserve..you don't even focus on making it. Rockstar has 4000 employees, yet they can't be bothered to release single player dlc in 9 years on a game that spans 3 consoles and hire a scab team of 21 to handle the task of these 3 legendary games?
And charge top price for this?

They did the same with GTA V. It seems like way back when they game first launched, they promised single player dlc that's never came.
IF GTA Online is a cash cow, I can understand trying to milk it for all that it's worth. But they can't have a team dedicated to story mode content....that people would be willing to pay for?
It's still hard to believe that a company like Rockstar seems to be falling so hard, so fast.

Wasn't there supposed to be some legit RDR 2 DLC as well?

Yeah, it seems like it. Their rep should be riding on GTA VI, after all of the lies and key departures from the company.
Surely they can make a game that looks as good or better than GTA V in a new setting. I went back to GTA V after the trilogy launch and it still looks great to me...especially compared to those remasters. If it could look as good as RDR2, that'd be even better.
It's hard to believe that this game has been out for almost a decade and we still know pretty much nothing about GTA VI.

Imagine if they could crank out 1 release (not a main release, vice city and san andreas were not 3 and 4) every 1-3 years. With a Numbered title release saved for next generation consoles. We should be at GTA 7 by now.
Keep the online. But have each release connect to the same lobby. Doesnt all have to be separate.
