Fallout 4

A couple questions.
First, I got an SSD because my old HD died. My PC boots up in like 5 seconds but Fallout 4 still takes forever to load between areas. The initial load into the game is much faster. Is this normal for the game?
Secondly, why is the difficulty curve so poorly done? In Fallout 3 it seems like you only have to fight 1-3 enemies at a time in most situations, but in Fallout 4, one of the first missions I did has me going into a plant to clear out raiders and there's tons of them. 10-15 raiders outside and about the same number on the inside. Similarly, I enter a hospital on the way to one of the first quests and it's filled with 10+ super mutants. Most fire fights have me going through my supply of ammo.
It seems like they wanted to turn in into more of a shooter with the number of enemies, improved weapon handling, VATS no longer stopping time (and honestly feeling nerfed imo), and improved enemy tactics, but it RPG enough to still make aiming feel haphazard and some enemies too bullet spongy.
There's some other aspects that irk me such as how being crippled makes you move slower than a walking pace, stim packs costing 3 times as much at the vendor, and having to find a non-ocuppied piece of furniture to "wait."

Bethesda games are notoriously poorly optimized. Between areas never seemed to be a problem for me. It was that initial load that always seemed to take forever.

Yeah, I had a hard time at the beginning of this game as well. Seemed to die a lot more than I typically did in FO games.

Shooting in this game is a lot better than any of the other FO's (go back and try 3 and NV if you don't believe me), so if someone were to ever remaster 3 with the 4 engine, I'd be unavailable for quite some time.

This seems to make sense

As does everything else. The only thing I'd ever buy from a vendor was ammo, and that was on the rare occasion. Got to the point where I had a lot of caps and wasn't sure what to spend it on.

This was a little irksome, sure, only because I was used to wait/healing anywhere with Skyrim and all.

Well it does, but from a video game sense it's just kind of annoying.

Did they not do this with the other two?
But it's easy enough to pull up your pip boy and heal yourself in the menu as opposed to doing it on the fly.

I just finished Fallout 3. Being crippled in that game doesn't reduce your run speed to slower than that of a walk. New Vegas might be different but it has been awhile since I"ve played it.

I liked most, if not all, of the changes they made with 4. The only big turnoff was the talking protagonist. Everyone makes fun of the dialogue of this game, but I still maintain that it wasn't any worse than the dialogue choices you had in any of the other 2, but now you just have "be sarcastic" or "I'll help you" and you don't know what is about to come. I hope they don't voice your character going forward.

Don't get me wrong. I do like some of the changes like not needing to repair weapons and not having to spec in energy weapons to be able to use them efficiently.

Absolutely. And I loved the modding with the weapons.

Awesome. I finally met someone who uses energy weapons in these games
ETA Not sure what's worse: finding a medkit with no stimpaks, or an ammo box full of energy ammo.

I was never short on ammo or health items. Its everywhere. Make sure to cook your food too.
The only early part that was challenging was fighting off the raiders, then the deathclaw, when you rescue the minutemen.

Save up caps to buy the Overseer's Guardian.
Game changer. Literally.

They don't hold your hand. You can walk into areas that you aren't ready for yet. Most folks got destroyed the first time they waltzed up to the hospital.

As they should. I just started playing witcher 3 and I was nervous about the protagonist talking because of fallout 4. Luckily the voice actor is good in it.

Last time I played I used mods and the mod that shuts up Preston was awesome.

Leveling up is slow as shite in Fallout 4. I think the Barter perk allows cheaper prices at vendors. Plus you can make your own stimpaks at a Chem station. Later in the game, you will have more stimpaks then you know what to do with.
Fallout 4 is a decent game, but you level up very very slowly. I enjoyed it but I'm officially done with Fallout 4. There are some games I can play multiple times over the course of many years and Fallout 4 is not one of them.

Do you though?
I beat Fallout 3 and all the DLC (Except Mothership Zeta) and was only lvl 20. In Fallout 4, I'm probably 60-70% through the main story and am already lvl 21.

I finished FO4 around level 65.

I've done a good bit of wandering and did all of Far Harbour and half of Nuka Cola DLC's and I think I'm around level 90.
