You're right, it's been forever since I've played Oblivion and had forgotten about that. Could you rotate it? There was something about it that I didn't like and can't remember what it is (that happens when you get older )
My problem with the 3rd person was that the running animation was terrible and if you ran diagonally it would like you were skating.

I'm still pissed that they got rid of flight in Oblivion. Nothing says you are a total arse kicker like being able to hop over a mountain instead of walking for an hour.
I actually wish they would allow us to make higher powered items with constant effect like they did in morrowind.
Those are my only beefs with oblivion. Well along with the annoying leveling system that you need to be a freaking math major in order to attain max levels.

I remember my first playthrough I kept leveling speechcraft and speed because it would always be like +3 or +4 when everything else was +2...then I realized that the game got progressively harder based on your levels...
Let's just say that some of the monsters were much harder than they were supposed to be.

it fricked you for actually enjoying aspects of the game outside of combat.
eta: hell, it's probably my only real complaint.

They've fixed that in Skyrim, I think. I want to say I read that once you visit an area, the creatures stay around the same level that you were when you first entered.

I listened to a developer interview where they said that it'd just be more like Fallout 3.. which is a good thing
