I just picked up the basic (?) version.
While I loved skyrim, the initial reviews were so bad for this game that I avoided it -- apparently they have been hard at work fixing a lot of those issues. Will see once it finally finishes downloading.
What are the preferred online resources to research the game?
Thanks all!

I played the original beta and hated it but the Morrowind update has me interested to give the game another shot.

so many people in morrowind i decided to do dark brotherhood.

Ya, I didn't even bother pre-ordering. I'm still going through the previous expansions, and figured Morrowind would be a shitshow for the next couple of months.

So I bought the Gold Edition through Steam yesterday, downloaded it, made myself a happy little elf assassin and I've found I am utterly addicted to sitting just inside the gate at Cats Eye Quay and sniping Vipers with my bow.
It's like the old days of EQ (pre-Legacy of Ykesha). :addictionemoji:

I see posts like this and I can't bring myself to believe them. The closed beta was so unbelievably bad.

Go get your Blade of Woe (Assassin's Guild). You can thank me later

I played Closed Beta. I also quit in utter frustration. I came back a couple months ago and it is COMPLETELY different. Give it a shot.

The WOW style interface with a million bars clogging up the screen give way to something very minimalistic but still loads of fun.
What's funny is that WoW was a simplified MMO itself. EQ2 was way more complex.

I played closed beta and never even thought about playing the game at release.
Bought it for $20 a few months ago because it's free-to-play now and it's 100% a different game.
They even changed the video card requirements because the graphics were updated awhile back.

Anybody played lotro? Y'all remember the group special maneuvers you'd pull off whenever everyone would have to hit a certain button in a certain order? That was interesting.

Addicted to this game, got 600 tank, healer, stam n magsorc. Played since beginning

I've only played a bit more, but figuring things out again (without reading a lot of guides first) is a blast.
A couple of quick/n00b questions if anyone has a moment:
1) for dungeons (I think they are called trials) is it still a 1 tank, 1 healer 3 dps model? or since everyone has a bit of tanking and healing in them, is it a free for all?
2) I haven't seen an auction house (yet), but have heard about trade guilds. How does one go about buying or looking for new armor/weapons crafted from other players?
3) is there a quest log limit

Thanks all, at least this current version of the game is good stuff (I'm not even playing in morrowind yet).

As for dungeons, make up really doesn't matter. I went in recently with another Detro/Resto sorcerer, ranked about like me, and we wrecked shop since our criticals matched well.
There are guild traders everywhere. Some are cheap, others not so much, know what you want and shop around. The bigger the city the better the guilds, Reapers March should have everything you need and nicely set near a Wayshrine and all crafting stations.
The log limit for quests on a console is 25

Actually I was playing lotro when ESO was in beta. Went back to lotro for awhile after that.
One of my main complaints with lotro was it was too easy. Didn't really have to do the maneuvers.
ESO has synergies that anyone except the caster can use which can make for some nice group cooperation.

Thanks a bunch!
It's definitely going to take me a while to get a handle on all that's going on, but so far the game is fun and there are a lot of nice little stories in quest lines.
With some of the quests, you end up making a seemingly important choice at the end. Do these choices end up changing the game world, or how your character is perceived in the world?
Posted on 5/30/17 at 7:20 am to AustinDawg
Not so much on the quest. They effect other quests and some story details but don't do much to change the World around you.
For instance you can go all in with the thieves guild or dark brotherhood (I recommend both, the perks are nice), get into all sorts of trouble, and all you need is clemency, money to pay a guard or pardon currency, then boom! Your a model citizen again
