You really should get it asap, it can help a LOT (plus it's fun). The quest to get it is pretty much the first real quest in the Dark Brotherhood line and the only tough part of it is finding someone to kill in Anvil where no one can see. After that you just go to the Lighthouse and get the reward.
I can't remember if you get a Bounty put on you even if you are not seen but if you do then it's probably best to do the kill just before you log out for the evening (the bounty timer continues to run down while you are logged out).

It has a PITA portion in that you have to go into your game settings to set the toggle to allow you to attack friendly NPC's once you find a good victim, directly afterwards you have to change it back to avoid accidentally attacking the quest guy. I mean... that's just what I've heard... from a friend... *whistles innocently*

Using the blade of woe is hard for me. Pressing X + O at the same time invariably leads to me casting an offensive spell.

My only issue has been accidentally sucking their blood with vampire action. I'm on pc though so I changed the blade of woe action button

Plenty of easy kills on the south interior wall of Anvil opposite of the docks. That Sithis Gear set you get from doing Gold Coast quests is good to have. The better you do, the higher the quality

No idea, I play on the PC. With all the various controls I have no idea how you can manage this game with a console controller.

It isn't WoW. You only have like 5 skills you can activate at one time.

How do you activate synergies? How do you flip between skill bars? Port to a group member's location?
Not trying to be an arse, honestly curious. I played DCUO for years with an XBox controller, the differences in the games make it seem to me that using a controller here would be more problematic.

I guess some people just pay the price in Crowns. Some of these mansions are fricking gigantic and on amazing real estate. I can see the appeal of buying and furnishing one with stuff you craft and your own trophies
