There was another dungeon that I came across that had a door that required one of those keys and it's driving me nuts cause I can't remember which one it was .

Just beat Godrick in like 6 tries. He’s such a easier boss compared to Margit

I know I’m underpowered but I’m so determined to beat Margit with my naked character and no upgrade weapon. It’s such a long fight and the 2nd phase is brutal though. That hammer hit box is whack

Damn that sounds horrible. I was fighting him with a +3 weapon and it was like a wet noodle. Can’t imagine non upgrade

Impressive you're even making it to the second phase with that setup. I've got a +4 weapon and using the spirit wolves and he's kicking my arse.

Does anyone else find it extremely hard to get runes in this game? Feels way more scarce than souls in DS.

Also, frick Margit. Glad to never have to fight that a hole again.

I can get through first phase every time without getting hit. The second phase is just so rough because there are so few opportunities to get hits on him. That coupled with no low damage makes the fight a marathon, and those second phase attacks can end you QUICK if you have a slight slip up. I can get him down to about 25-30% HP usually, then the fatigue/tension from fighting so long makes me skip up. Summoning is out of the question for my first playthrough, and I thought about using the spirits but elected against it.

He’s a really tough and well designed boss. Huge HP pool, wide arcing attacks with big hitboxes, and very punishing if you get greedy. He whipped me for an hour today and I was still smiling with every death because he’s just so well done

during his second phase I only attacked during two of his moves. All his other stuff is basically impossible to because of how many counters he has

Got his arse. Whew that was a long fight. If anyone else if having trouble:

During second phase, bait the following attacks

1. Overhead charge. When he lunges at you, roll backward to dodge first swing, then roll towards him and to his left to dodge his second swing. Get 2-3 hits in then back off.

2. Horizontal hammer swing. After he does this, there will be a slight delay before he does a jump attack with his stick. Dodge towards him to avoid that attack, then hug him and circle to his right as he loads up that stab move with his stick. He will miss and you can get 3 hits in before he resets. Figuring this out was the game changer for me. At first I would go to his left, which causes him to counter with his spectral weaponry. Hugging and going to his right makes him miss the stab AND he doesn’t counter you.

So many of his counters are based on your proximity to him, so learning the distances and positions to not trigger them is crucial.

Margit was super easy, at least to me. My ash of war kept him busy and I rained spells on him and occasionally attacked with melee. That tree boss in the dungeon is no joke. Super aggressive, erratic as hell, and hits like a truck.

I fought this a-hole at least 15 times last night and still have yet to beat him.

What’s a good ranged class to use? I’m a DS noob so trying to play up close melee is getting me destroyed

Getting my arse handed to me. About 4 hours in. I cleared out the first bandit camp and got the loot, got the spirit bell and leveled up like 5 times.

Killed the giant at the gate but everything past there wrecks me as far as every other direction I’ve gone.

I need to figure out how to get magic or range or some shite lol

I to am a DS noob. I started with Vagabond and just got worked my first night. Did some research and saw the magic classes are very beginner friendly.

I went with the Prisoner since he starts with a magic spell but can also do some combat. Like a Spell sword.

Game is 100xs easier. He has like a delayed magic bolt that does a lot of damage. Last night I killed 2 or 3 cave/mini dungeon bosses and it’s good cause you can use the range when needed. But if you want to try your hand at hand to hand combat you can.

I'm loving my prisoner class. Im using it as a melee mage character. It comes with a pretty dang good spell right off the bat.
