My first playthrough was in 2018 and was my first FromSoft game. I was immediately a fan and BB became one of my favorite games of all time.

However, I didn't get to the Old Hunters DLC at that time. I missed the trigger on my first playthrough and got smacked when I tried to go straight there on NG+. I got distracted with other games and never went back to it.

I just got to it on my new playthrough and holy shite...Ludwig was unlike anything in the main game. Definitely the most difficult boss so far. For reference, I've been building skill/arcane, currently level 88, using the Threaded Cane and now about to alternate with the Holy Moonlight Sword. I've also made it a goal to use the Moonlight Sword in every game and so far DS2's version has been my favorite.

I'm sure there are others that will challenge me and I'm excited about it.

I've been on a run playing through all the FromSoft games recently. I had never completed DS1 or DS2 and just recently finished those along with completing DS3's Convergence mod (soooo...freaking...good). Having a freaking blast!

I never did beat Bloodborne. Got pretty far but ended up stopping for some reason. Might need to revisit. I think I stopped because I didn't really understand the chalice stuff .

If the Bloodborne DLC is like the Dark Souls 2 and 3 DLCs then I'm not surprised that it's incredibly difficult. I tried Dark Souls 2 DLC and got smacked around like I was level 0.

I'm in the middle of GOW Ragnarok right now but started to get a little burned out (played all of GOW 2018 right before starting Ragnarok), so I decided to start a new run of Demon's Souls so I can focus on Tendency and access some stuff I never had access to on my first playthrough when I didn't understand how tendency worked.

I've been meaning to start another playthrough of Bloodborne, I didn't like it that much when I first played, but I felt the same when I first started Dark Souls.

And yes, I'm actually in the middle of Dark Souls 2 DLC, after beating the main game, and I'm getting my arse kicked.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that's what kick-started this whole endeavor I'm on. I got a PS5 specifically to play the DeS remake!

What a freaking fantastic game. I pray that BluePoint will get tapped for a Bloodborne remaster because my god...that DeS remaster is BEAUTIFUL.

As for the chalice dungeons, I also never delved into them. I pretty much beat the main game, got the "good" ending, and then started playing Neir: Automata. I got my PS4 at the time solely to play BB and Neir and I was away at Warrant Officer school for six months in a hotel room by myself. No kids and no wife = happy gamer life.

I started Dark Souls so many times and just could not get into it. The dark fantasy setting was not my jam and I was too overwhelmed.

BB sucked me in because I loved the gothic horror setting and that made me push through the bullshite. Made me a fan of the FromSoft formula, but I still never beat any Dark Souls game until after I put 250 hrs into Elden Ring.

My souls-like timeline went:

BB
Sekiro
The Surge (not FromSoft, but great freaking souls-like)
Elden Ring
DS3
DeS
DS1
DS2

I never got to playing the DS2 DLC...I should probably do that next.

for me, it was:

1) buddy recommended that I should play bloodborne. He gave me his ps4 disc, and I fired it up. Got killed by the wolf at the very start, was confused by the central hub area, and turned it off. Spent maybe 45 minutes on it lol

2) got a ps5 and played the Demon's Souls remake. Took me forever to finally make it through the Gates of Boletaria. Once I did and started making progress, I was hooked.

3) tried Bloodborne again but couldn't beat Father Gascoigne (During this attempt I didn't realize the music box was a thing lol). Put it back on the shelf again.

4) DS1, finished

5) Elden Ring at launch, 2 complete playthroughs on NG, and platinum

6) DS2, finished main game and couldn't make any progress in the DLC

7) DS3

8) Bloodborne again. Made it pretty far but never finished.

Still need to do Sekiro

Do it, but be prepared for a different experience from any other Souls-like game. Poke and run will not work - you gotta learn how to deflect and parry and stay aggressive.

Absolutely amazing experience, though!

Sekiro

Sekiro was by first FromSoft game. Was never interested in any of them, but broke down and bought it on sale last year. It’s the first game I ever platinumed, going through NG+4. I’m balls-deep in my first playthrough of Elden Ring right now (and although its an amazing experience), but I can see myself going back to play through Sekiro after I’m done. The combat and traversal are easily my favorite of the Soulsborne games. Wish they make another game with those mechanics in the future!

Not meaning to hijack the OP’s thread, but FromSoft would be perfect as the developer of a legit Game of Thrones RPG/Soulslike game. Each house having different skill sets would be great for starting classes. Tons of minor characters that could be NPCs with interesting quest lines. They don’t seem interested in taking on IPs so I know it’ll never happen, but damn that would be perfect

Agree 100%, but I don't think it would differ much from Elden Ring other than adding the Houses.

At some point I've got to actually play it. I've played the hell out of Demon's Souls (OG and remake), DS1, DS3, and Elden Ring, but I could never really get into Bloodborne. I really want to give it a shot again though. Still got a PS4 so I might try at some point but I really wish they would remaster or optimize it for the ps5 (or make a PC version but that wont happen).

Finally downed him and Orphan of Kos. Game complete.

While I originally beat BB back in 2018, this was my first time with the DLC.

The Old Hunters is definitely one of the better FromSoft DLCs. It's up there with Ringed City for me.

Laurence's difficulty shrank exponentially when I started sticking to the side with his little hand when I dodged or circled him. So, it came down to me not being a dumbass and fighting my urge to dodge into the swipes from his big hand.

Orphan of Kos was a really fun, parry-heavy fight. I enjoyed it a lot.

Overall, this replay solidified BB's place at the top of my FS tier-list.

We really need a frigging remaster and/or sequel.

I got it right before my grandfather went into the hospital and later passed. Also had a lot of stuff going on with work. So at that time I was not gaming much and when I was, I was mainly on the PC. I really want to go back and play it but I wish they would make a remaster version, or at least work on a ps5 patch because I've heard it runs like shite on it.

I might sound like a snob here but I felt like the eighth gen, despite being a much needed upgrade over the previous, was the weakest generation of games. PC hit its second renaissance towards the end of the seventh and at the time GPU upgrades were very affordable. I rarely turn my ps4 or ps4 pro on except for rocksmith with my wife, and my xbone has not been turned on since 2017 unless you count the few times my dog accidentally turned it on with his nose.
