Oh, and you didn't know God of War was going to look like that, you didn't know Norman Reedus was working with Kojima again, you didn't know Crash 1-3 was being remastered, you didn't know any of the release dates, you didn't know Insomniac was the dev team working on the new Spiderman game.

I suppose the IGN forums are full of really good guesses then.

And no, release dates aren't worth anything seeing as this is the console generation of delays.

So announcing things like release dates or releasing all those new trailers/game demo footage is not worthy of E3? Then exactly what the frick is E3 for?

You're changing the argument. The question was did Nintendo make a mistake by only showcasing two large and anticipated games.

Microsoft and Sony did nothing wrong by showing off trailers and giving release dates. He's just trying to show that Microsoft and Sony were also both pretty conservative with their conference. shite, Sony didn't even talk about the Neo which everyone was hoping for.

Well, *I* didn't change the argument. Tactical stated that nothing Sony or Microsoft did was worth being at E3. That's the idiotic assertion I addressed. If announcing new IPs, release dates, and introducing a heap of new trailers and game play demos isn't worthy of E3, then I need an explanation of what SHOULD be at E3. And him claiming he magically knew all of this through the power of a forum hosted at IGN is laughable.

I'd agree that MS & Sony showed less content than last year; Sony's conference was just over an hour when last year's was almost two hours long.

To answer the question of the OP, I don't think Nintendo made a mistake showcasing their two big games. But let's not pretend like Sony and Microsoft didn't provide new information.

Well it wasn't magic, it was simply leaked information that a lot of people were already aware of.

Let's also not pretend that what they showed was worth the stage time either.

Release dates and trailers to mostly announced projects. Could have done that any time of year.

Then why have e3? You can do all of this any time of year.

Well obviously it's the spectacle. It's a big show to promote hype and get the word out. Hell, we have someone here championing the Sony show because he was wowed by release dates and trailers.

Look, by no means was anything bad. But release dates don't mean much anymore and we have quickly forgot how misleading trailers can be after The Division and Watch Dogs.

Yeah, I'm the keyboard warrior claiming all this insider information.

So, E3 is for spectacle's sake only. It's not for announcing new hardware. It's not for announcing new initiatives. It's not for announcing release dates. It's not for showcasing new game trailers or new game play footage. Because that's all pointless to do. Gotcha man. You clearly proved me wrong with all those facts. I'll go make myself a cheese sammich and create an IGN account so I can be dialed in like you.

You mean leaked information.

You clearly have some dog in this fight, otherwise you wouldn't take it personal.

This is gold, the way you are acting in this thread and you call someone a keyboard warrior

Why are you trying to make up rules about E3 to fit your agenda? Both MS and Sony had a great E3 were they showed and announced a lot of new games.

The same can't be said of Nintendo they are really in a rough position no 3rd party support and there new console is a year away.

All I got from his comments were that Sony and Microsoft didn't really show much of anything that was wow worthy ergo Nintendo doing the same wasn't a big deal.

Not sure why y'all are pounding him on correctly pointing out that a lot of this stuff was already essentially known about before E3.

There really was no show stopped "Holy shite!" moment TBH.

I also agree that w/how fluid release dates have become (and how often games shipped woefully incomplete) that a simple announcement of one isn't exactly a big deal anymore.

I also agree that trailers aren't a big deal either b/c all too often they aren't of the actual gameplay and are just prerendered BS that might not even be in the game.

Your points are reasonable. I don't agree with all of it, but they're reasonable and your own opinion I can respect.

quote:

...Sony and Microsoft didn't show anything worthy of an E3 conference...

This isn't reasonable. It's hyperbolic.

Considering what used to be an amazing or memorable E3 conference, yeah it's reasonable.

He is agreeing with exactly what I said. Earlier you didn't think it was worth a damn.
