After playing destiny a bit after the April update and seeing what's coming down the pike it looks like Bungie may have FINALLY made the game everyone expected with ROI.

I was tempted not to jump on board due to Destiny 2 being on the horizon but from what I hear our characters on D1 are going to be transferable to D2.

Light levels to 400.
The raid will be more like VOG
They are bringing back year 1 strikes
Gear will be customizable
There will be different artificacts that can be equipped to counteract different actions
Bungie is actually looking into add match making for raids (not exactly in ROI but whatever)
Strikes will grant keys that can be used for specialized loot (like Borderlands)
On and on it goes.

Basically, we finally have the ability to be different and max level (even over level) our characters in different ways without being dependent on the raid.

After about a five month hiatus I came back like two weeks ago. Pretty much have played it every day.

Having a blast again, even with the same content.

Did we say that with taken King? Taken King is great but we just ran out of things to do.

Yea they did. In their defense Taken King was really good.

In totality, Destiny will be a very good complete game once ROI drops. Could you imagine what it would have been like if the complete game would have dropped on day 1

Hindsight. They learned a lot through experience and what works. I'm sure roi will be good and by the time destiny 2 drops we will be begging for content.

As someone who has never played destiny, is it still worth picking up?

Is the old content obsolete compared to the DLC? Hoping for a no here. Much prefer when old content is preserved and doable like in ARPG's.

I just started playing it a couple of months ago.

Definitely worth picking up IMO. The storyline is pretty extensive and by the time you get through that you'll have a pretty good feel for the game.

Never got thorn and as far as I know you can't get it right now which sucks. Bring back all the year one weapons, let me run fault again.

I hope they leave that POS thorn out or nerf it a lot. frick I hate that stupid thing. With how tough it is to kill someone in PvP, no primary weapon should be a 2 shot kill at range unless it takes tons of skill to use (no land beyond...)

Bungie will probably nerf Thorn the same way they did The Last Word. I know for a fact the range won't be the same bc they buffed that for all hand cannons. There are very few applications for TLW since TTK dropped.

Interesting because when I used to play it was barely even there, but then again I didn't play Destiny for the story. It would have been nice if it wasn't the bare minimum though.

The gear is mostly obsolete, but the experience isn't. Ran all three raids in a row last night and had tons of fun.

I guess only having the first release would go pretty quick, but having to go all the way from day one to killing Oryx took me a good lil while and I enjoyed it.

As for The Last Word, I got killed by it a few times in trials yesterday. Mostly got shotgunned to death though.
