Yep. I was able to get a brand new character that i've never played to 922 without firing a shot outside of the opening mission.
Got the exotic armor Xur was selling while on my main character, so it dropped high. Equipped it and the highest weapons on the new character.
The collections wouldn't drop higher than 750 until after I opened the initial season package for some reason, so did that, then kept buying the green collection gear until it plateaued and I couldn't go any higher. Then got some of the rest of the season gear to keep jumping up.

How? Anyways I am going to finish Forsaken tonight and start Shadowkeep. Wonder what I will end up after a few hours of playing? Currently 860-ish LL.
I've got 5 more Barons to kill.

Hero level Nightmare Hunts available at reset this week.
Going to hit powerfuls on my first character tonight and finish the campaign on my second later this week. Not sure if I will get to starting my third character this week.
I will definitely be raid ready after tonight.

Also, don't pull out your season battle pass armor unless there is an armor piece really holding you back. Those pieces will drop at your current light level (minus whatever the artifact has added), so they are worth holding onto until you are at least 900 or above.

Do you mean claiming the season pass rewards? I've already claimed the first 6 levels.

Yes. The rewards are fine (like the glimmer and shards and what not). Just don't claim the armor if you can. Wait until you are at least 900 to claim the armor pieces.

I've claimed everything to level 6 but I don't think it's great stuff regardless. Can't remember though.

Yea, there may have been one piece of armor in there (outside of the original set you get), so no big deal there.
There is plenty more armor as you continue to progress, so don't worry about it.

I wish I didn't claim anything though because I did and now my Eriana's Vow is only LL 784.. and I'm still using it at almost LL 900. F.

I think it actually drops again later in the season. Could always create another player as well and power level him.

How come at the start of Shadowkeep no item is going over 900-903 LL? I did the opening mission and now am free to roam around the moon and do stuff or continue the campaign.
Also, should I hold off on getting Cayde's Ace assembled by Banshee until I'm max level? I have to do Gambit stuff to get it made after finishing Forsaken.

Welcome to the soft cap. All your drops will be at or just below your overall power level. Now you'll need to complete the weekly challenges that award powerful gear to increase it.

The only thing you can do to level now are challenges. Look at the vendors at the tower and they have bounty challenges. Also, the Vex invasion, Gambit, and Crucible. I think Petra still has them at the dreaming city but I’m not sure what level they drop at. There are Tier 1, 2, and 3 rewards the give you different level of gear.
ETA. Raids and Nightfalls will also give increased power rewards.

Heroic Vex Invasion public event gives like tier 3 powerful rewards twice a week per character, fastest way to level. Too bad no one does it

Yep. I was trying for an hour last night to get one, and nobody was doing patrols or anything. Almost got Heroic to pop by myself, but just couldn't quite get it.

Do I need to do anything with what Petra gave me at the end of Forsaken to get into The Dreaming City or did the new release of Destiny onto Steam allow you to bypass this? Still think I want to do it regardless..
