So I got a PS5 and have been playing Demon Souls. First time playing it. Game is very hard to me. I’m at the gates of betholeria or whatever. I get to the top of the castle and enter into an exterior walkway facing a big huge knight demon or whatever with a jousting sword. I have been trying to beat him for a week and can’t. He kills me every time. I can use my shield and throw firebombs at him but that still doesn’t help. Can anyone give me some pointers!? Thank you

I think you're talking about the enemy guarding the tomb and yes he's noticeably tougher than the other mobs up to that point. It's a completely optional place and you can't even enter the tomb right now anyway so if you want to come back later you can.

But as far as fighting him, just whittle him down, rely on your shield and figure out his main patterns, get a few pot shots on him, sprint away, recover stamina and regroup and then repeat. You can also try circling aggressively behind him and try to get backstabs.

Yeah that’s exactly him. I just realized I can go the other way lol. But he pissed me off so much I want to beat him. I am going to go for more backstabs. Thank you.

I never understood the "git gud" thing till I finally played one of these games. I started with bloodborne about a year or two ago and....yep...I get it now.

Yep it’s all about patience. I do not have any kind of amazing reflexes or “stick skills” and usually get destroyed in any kind of multiplayer games.

Yet I’ve beaten every Soulsborne up to NG+3; anyone can git gud.

Leave that guy (and any other red-eyed knight) until you get stronger. There's a lesser but still challenging version of him the other way guarding a fog gate...the blue-eyed knight. That's where you need to go.

I'm having the same problems. Got the game for my son with his ps5 because I knew it was supposed to be hard. Pisses us both off. We haven't got past the first level yet, either. I've been watching play throughs, but haven't tried starting it up again. I'll need to repick a new character. I can't get anymore moon grass.

If it is like the other games, you can grind some levels and get stronger if you aren't able to learn the patterns. You can also watch youtube vids on how to kill him but those might be even more frustrating to see an insanely good player kill the knight in about 11 seconds and then be unable to replicate what you saw.

Rage quitting is an option. I think I quit for 18 months before going back to finish Bloodbourne.

You can summon me if you need a little guidance. I don’t handhold so you can still get the sense of accomplishment, I’ll just help as necessary. PSN is same as on here

The system for healing is one of the things the later Souls game refined much better.

The grass system in Demons Souls can go off the rails. For new players they run out of grass easily and are stuck farming them if they want to progress which is boring. For good players you end up with tons of grass i reserve which gives you effectively unlimited healing in tough fights.

I would vote 3-2, 1-3, and then 5-2 in that order.

I usually do all of 2, all of 3, all of 5, all of 4, then 1-3 and 1-4 for grand finale

Just finished all of 3 and 1-3. Went to 5-2 and got fricked by a dark phantom in the mud with a meat cleaver

Like blighttown in reverse. Finally onto 1-4. Let’s see how rough this gets

I guess there is something after you kill the fake king
