I almost quit at Manus the first time I fought him. Using the pendant. It was really rough. I couldn't read his tells or dodge the right way when he used his spells.

I think it took me a couple weeks to get past him.

Playing the Souls games for the first time ever.

Just finished Demons Souls on PS5...tried to do another run through on NG+ and am getting wrecked, so I decided to give DS Remastered a shot. Made it to the first boss last night and he made short work of me but I doubt it'll be difficult. Started out with a Bandit class and am using the axe for now.

Trying to get through DS Remastered and Bloodborne before Elden Ring but I'll doubt I'll make it.

Having never played the games, it's definitely tough going from the PS5 graphics of Demons Souls back to PS3/PS4 level stuff but the games are so great that it doesn't really matter.

Yep, I recently beat both for the first time. Great games. I feel like once you understand the formula, they are way less stressful of games to play. And it's very rewarding when you uncover secrets hidden throughout the world. FromSoft games are quickly becoming my all time favorites.

I tried to get through Demon Souls without any help but after about a quarter of the way through, I realized that I wasn't taking adavantage of scaling and weapons upgrades the way I should. I was all over the place with what I was doing and as such wasted some good upgrade materials that were difficult to farm later on. Also, screwed up the world tendency stuff and was unable to get the dragon bone smasher that my strength build was perfect for.

Going into Dark Souls now, I understand generally what to look for and how to manage resources so it should go much smoother with a more focused approach.

Yeah, it's generally easier just to go with some form of strength build with a weapon that scales high on strength (B or A if possible). If you ever play Dark Souls 2, you can always go a dex build and do dual-rapiers, which really break the game up until the DLC.

If you can get the Black Knight Halberd to drop in DS1: Remastered, you will shite on every enemy/boss quite easily. Also, make sure you can parry well, as it is super broken in DS1.

So true. Even if you can just get the regular black knight sword to drop youre way ahead of the game. Save your twinkling titanite for that as you can max it early on.

The save points in this game aren't frequent enough. I guess I need to start manually saving more often.

yeah no shite. There's nothing more frustrating than beating a boss, finally coming across a new bonfire, deciding to not rest so that you can go back and recover some stuff you missed without having to deal with respawned enemies, only to frick up and die anyways.

A lot of them are hidden. I can think of at least 3 bonfires that are behind illusory walls. Might be 1 or 2 behind a wall that an enemy has to break.

I can't remember any of those. I think you have to get them.
