What's in the DLC? More areas and stuff? Or just new weapons, etc.?

a whole new area.

expands on some plot points from main game. new weapons, sorceries, and items.

pretty solid expansion, IMO.

new areas, bosses, weapons, enemies, and story

I like to write screenplays in my free time, and I want to write on based off of the dlc story combined with elements from the main game. it's really awesome

It's been a while since I've played DS so I forget their names, but those big ice monsters on the skinny ice path on the way to fight Scaleless are the worst things to ever exist ever.

ETA: Also, did anyone's mind automatically drift to Kingdom Hearts when the last boss' music came on?

Well I never played that but as soon as I walked through the fog I was expecting a cut scene at least so I let my guard down. But sadly my attention was snapped back by a flaming greatsword to my nuts.

Man, that sounds pretty cool. I would be interested in reading that.

Have you seen all the 'history of dark souls' stuff on reddit? The lore of all this stuff just leaves me amazed. I know early in this thread BPG was asking about the 'plot' of this game, and maybe it was sort of dismissed as the main focus of the game is the battles and all. But wow, there is so much story to this game.

I know I've been watching ENB's vids on them. Its insane how subtle some of the intricate parts of the story are. Its very cool.

Yeah, and I like how the developers didn't just come out and tell you everything. You have to look for the stuff, piece things together, and kind of generate your own hypotheses.

Or that awkward moment that someone invades me wearing next to nothing, hopping and rolling around taking free shots on me thinking they are all badass n' such ...

Little do they know I'm about to one shot kill them with my, pyro flame ascendancy +5, great fireball ... Ah it's good to be king

Most interesting part of it. Watching the ideas ENB comes up with blow my mind. Not only because they're crazy but when you really sit back and think about them, they make a ton of sense.

My story would probably go like this: A medieval setting much like the one of Dark Souls. Manus, the boss of the DLC and father of the Abyss, is a sort of inter-dimensional traveller that invades different dimensions and unleashes the Abyss on civilizations, turning them into monsters and consuming that world in darkness. The setting for the story would be a same-universe-but-later-time-period setting in a kingdom that neighbors Oolacile (in the present day, Oolacile is much like Chernobyl and nobody goes near it). Manus comes to the current period and unleashes the Abyss on the main hero's kingdom. He escapes into the forest surrounding his city and Dusk, somehow capable of time travel, makes it into present day. She tells him that he needs the Greatsword of Artorias to slay Manus because of it's tainting by the Abyss.

Hero goes to the grave of Artorias, a hero from his city, and is confronted by Great Grey Wolf Sif. In this however, he is unable to defeat Sif, and leaves. Goes back to Dusk, and she brings him back to her time as her city is being consumed. Some stuff happens and hero ends up witnessing Artorias and Sif battling Manus. The battle is obviously in Manus' favor, and Artorias plants his Greatshield into the ground in front of Sif to save him. Sif escapes but Artorias is consumed. Hero travels further into future after Oolacile is completely lost and has to battle the Abyssal Artorias like in the game. Defeats him, but he doesn't have his original sword. Hero moves further on and discovers Sif being attacked. He saves Sif and nurses him back to health and sends him off to safety, then travels back to his own time.

In the present, the Hero goes back to the tomb of Artorias and Sif, at first hostile, recognizes his savior from many years ago (the first time they meet, Sif will be mutilated in some way and have many scars due to the attack in the past, and now in the present they will be gone because of the altered timeline). Hero will tell Sif that he needs the sword to end Manus' reign, and Sif gives it to him.

Epic battle with Manus ensues. During the battle, I want Manus to try and escape through his dimensional wormholes and Hero always goes through, and for one of the spots they end up, I want it to be a present-day freeway. Think it would be a badass touch. Hero kills Manus and ends the reign of the Abyss.

Sorry for TL;DR, but please tell me what yall think so I can get to writing

Yes, definitely. The Reddit page and ENB's videos are mind boggling. So many hidden layers of story

Damn it ... I'm at work and it's raining it's dick off outside and all I can think about is how I wish I was at home playing Dark Souls instead of being here at the office.
