I'm a little concerned about the 1st person limit, but it usually makes for a tighter shooter experience.

Lots of people saying you get over the first person thing fast. Game is really well made.

Danny O'Dwyer tweeted on this last night:

quote:

For those confused as to why CDPR would make Cyberpunk 2077 first person it probably has something to do with the fact that it's a game where you fire guns inside of buildings and not a game where you swing a sword in fields.

quote:

Aside from that rather reductive quip, the game has clearly been designed to take advantage of the perspective. Not only in combat, but the dialogue with NPCs, world interaction and movement all uses the perspective in interesting ways. You get to enjoy a lot of detail.

quote:

For instance at one point the protagonist had a meeting in the back of a car. Sort of impossible to do that in third person. And on a thematic level, much of the game seems to revolve around how cyber-enhancements change your perspective of the world. Your HUD is an eye-mod.

quote:

Whenever they show it publicly I'm sure it'll make more sense. But I do wish gamers would stop pretending they know more than groups of 100s of developers who pour their creative passion into these games. Don't get me started on this "Fallout 76 shouldn't be online" nonsense.

Do we start freaking out about Joel not being playable in TLOU2?

If you're just waking up from a coma because I think that's been pretty clear from the beginning. At least he's alive.

They just confirmed he won't be playable yesterday.

I thought it had been rumored for some time that he wasn't even alive, hence unplayable. I guess once they said he was in the game somewhere, had to clarify his involvement.

Sure, the internet came to that assumption.

The new trailer pretty much says that he is still alive, although they did say the party scene is like a year before the Ellie killing everyone gameplay, so maybe he died before those events.

To clarify they confirmed Ellie is the only playable character.

There they go again. Studios trying different things without asking us first.

What part? Sorry, I must have missed it. I really don't feel like watching it again.

The Asian guy said her "old man" was being a dick to him. Being extra careful when it was Ellie's turn to go on patrol or whatever. Pretty obvious that referred to Joel.

Naughty Dog confirmed later that Joel is in the game and a major character.

I could see them just swapping roles from the first game, Elle is the main character and Joel is the AI companion.

Ah thanks! I missed that because I was laughing during that part. My "ol lady" said it was glenn from walking dead. Then I swiftly shushed her.

I would be fine with this.

Sorry to derail the convo. Back to cyberpunk. I'm pretty interested in this though I am worried about it being first person.

Why?

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was 1st person and an awesome game.

Nothing wrong with FP.

I want to see this game play that everyone at E3 got to see behind closed doors. Close to an hour of content by most accounts.

I only played the original deus ex and did not mind it at all. I guess I would just like the option to do 3rd person when I want to. I wouldn't want to play skyrim in first person the whole game. Same with fallout. Just a preference. Either way I most likely will be buying it.
