So I'm maxing out my coffers and got my Heroes to 16&18 @ TH4. Basically raiding with just my Heroes at this point and getting loot and hero exp. is this going to bite me in the arse?

That's the right approach. Use your hero badges sparingly, they are the limiting factor in the game. Roll for heroes with free gems unless you are going to buy some.

I started doing dungeon 4S2 after watching a youtube video on it. I basically drop all my heroes at the bottom between the southern most troup base and the wall to the left. I immediately use guardian angel. Sometimes I use heal. I have a really good success rate at 100% no hero deaths and always get more than 50%. I thought I would share because I was afraid to try it for fear of just losing. It's not fool proof but it works and I have gotten the 15 shards more than once when I have not gotten a 100% victory.

Cool. At this level I'm getting a lot of raids against people with no army. So I'm just using my heroes to take the 9k each and upgrading walls and everything

I'm not following the roll for heroes thing... I've been using the same two I've been having.

you will eventually be able to have 5 heroes
what he's saying (i think) is don't use hero badges to roll for heroes, only use gems.

Yeah, when I first started I rolled a few heroes with honor badges, but now I wish I hadn't. It wasn't much (a few thousand), but you have zero chance of a legendary hero if you roll with honor badges. Either roll with gems or buy legendaries with shards. Use honor badges only for upgrading heroes.

I'm putting all this effort into these 2 and basically I won't even be using them anymore?
Also, I was looking at the leaderboards. Doesn't seem like it offered much variety for defenses. This is more of a troop vs troop game?

every 20th lvl you have to upgrade
lvl 20, 40, 60, so on to lvl 180, it takes a ton of honor badges

I'm guessing your two heroes are either ordinary (green) or elite (blue)? If so, I probably wouldn't upgrade them past 3 or 4 star. Save those honor badges for when you get some legendary (purple) heroes.

1. Protect your resources against raids from other players.
2. Ignore resource protection and instead make your base work well for HBM (Here Be Monsters, the blue portal at top left).
It's really hard to make a base that excels at both.

Cool. Thanks for all the explanations Everyone. I know it gets old explaining everything so much (Like it does for COC).
I have level 20 executioner, level 20 frost witch. Working on a marauder and just got a sick (looking) werewolf but nothing beyond blue.

It just means that the first time you collect it you get the Frost Witch, 500HB and 20 gems. Tomorrow you will get a green slime, 500HB, and 20 gems. The 21st time you collect the daily reward you will get a Paladin, and the 30th time a Druid (arguably the best hero in the game btw). So 30 days from now, if you login every day, you will have 2 legendary (purple) heroes, guaranteed. After the 30 days it starts all over.
