She's invisible until it runs out or you do a melee attack, which does some decent damage. You can upgrade the melee to have elemental effects as well. So you can punch them and they will catch on fire or whatnot.

I was never super impressed by it. I usually just used it when I had a mob of them around me and I was taking too much damage.

So what makes the ability better in BL2? TBH I haven't really cared enough about that class to check it out.

Her's is a phase lock now. It freezes the enemy in mid air so everyone can take shots at the helpless target. Zero kind of adopted the original Siren's skill by being able to vanish while a decoy distracts the enemy. Then you can reappear wherever and do a melee attack.

Not sure. I would guess not, but that might be one of those upgrade perks. Any video I've seen has only shown one enemy.

yeh, i've only seen her phaselock one enemy at a time, but while that enemy is being phase locked the giant ball of plasma or whatever she's using to do the phaselock with emits elemental damage to the opponents in the area and i think there is a skill for it to cause an explosion up when the lock has timed out.
her ability paired with any of the other characters is sweet.
think of maya and santos. she phase locks a badass enemy. he gunzerks them with two weapons. twice the damage while the enemy is a sitting duck.
maya and the soldier. she phase locks a badass. he throws down the turret and it locks on and blasts away while the soldier does the same. ton of damage, recieving no damage, and the enemy is a sitting duck.
same thing with zero. phase lock. allows zero to either snipe a headshot or get in close to do critical damage with his sword.

Just looking at the skill tree, there's tons of stuff you can do with your phaselock. One of them, if the enemy dies while in it and the timer hasn't run out, it can see out another target. One causes enemies to turn on each other. One allows the bullets that hit the enemy caught in it to ricochet and hit other targets.

maya and the soldier will defnitely be the most versatile/team player characters. while santos and zero are more high damage but lone wolfs.
so whoever is playing along on your 4, ensure the team players get her or the soldier, while the COD/BF K/D monsters get Santos or Zero.

the skill trees look so fricking deep this time around.
in BL1, you could always pay to reset your skill tree, but there's wasn't much of a purpose because you would overlap most skills unless you just went complete polar opposites.
but in BL2, if you still have that ability you are talking about a new character multiple times over.
