Best Nintendo Switch games?

Just bought a Nintendo Switch Lite. I'm a somewhat older gamer who hasn't played any console games in several years, though I have generally enjoyed them since childhood. Breath of the Wild was my inaugural purchase. What other games would the learned posters of this board recommend? TIA.

Depends on the type of games you like and if you like Nintendo stuff. I mean Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey are must haves for the most part.
If you're an old gamer who played a lot of old school games and likes Nintendo I would 100% recommend Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Don't let the veneer fool you. It's a highly polished strategy game. Quite good, quite fun.
If you like RPGs and don't mind a little anime...Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is good. If you do mind the anime, you can get Final Fantasy's 7-12(minus 11) on the system.
If you like fighters you can get old school Street Fighter games and the new MK or Samurai Showdown.
If you want to try some other modern games - Skyrim and The Witcher 3 would be good picks. Or Assassin's Creed Rebel Collection. Or the first Doom. Doom Eternal is coming later in the year.
If you want a fun racer - Mario Kart. If you like fighters, but want something more accessible, Smash Bros. is a must.
I would also recommend the following indie games:
Enter the Gungeon
Dead Cells
Cuphead
Hollow Knight
Any Steamworld Game
Any Shantae game
Any Shovel Knight game
And if you missed Resident Evil 4 - It's one of the greatest games of all time and is on the system. Highly recommended.

The best exclusive Switch games (I don't own one but "common knowledge"), in addition to the aforementioned Breath of the Wild
Super Mario Odyssey (3d mario style, ala Super Mario 64 or Galaxy)
If you like old school 2D mario:
Super Mario Maker 2
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
If you like racing/fighting games and multiplayer
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
That's just the exclusives
There are lots of ports of big name multiplatform games on the Switch too, that have been on other systems, which if you haven't played you can check out.

You really tellin’ this **** to play Cuphead when he hasn’t touched a console in years?

Skyrim is an open world game. It takes a bit to get used to; the controls but the scenery is amazing. Don't let the beginning put you off; and when you are in caverns and some dude is stuck in spider webs after you kill big arse spiders-- cut him out -- and chase him when he runs and kill his arse and get the golden claw.

What’s better/newer, switch or Wii U?
If you’re getting one now with now prior Nintendo experience since the 64 which should you get?
