Well I worry how much story they can get out of it. I'm all for biannual, but annual just wears out it's welcome.

I completed the story last night and uninstalled it. I originally was gonna complete most/all of the side stuff, but after completing all the side missions with the exception of the Riddler (83%) I decided I didn't care enough to hunt down more data packs and no way in hell I was gonna complete challenge mode.
I think I have a little fatigue with this series. I wish it was a more cerebral game. I feel like Asylum had the most detective elements, which I enjoyed. Predator rooms are old. And I'm extremely tired of watching bosses hulk out on Venom as a final boss type encounter. It was awful when Joker did it in the original and in Arkham Origins it felt stupid and like an artificial way to extend the game for a few extra minutes.
I still don't hate the game, but I just wish it were a little different.

I agree with that overall and wish there were more puzzles other than riddler trophies and data packs.

This game was almost exactly what it needed to be.
the timing and spacing on the combat is a little off. I do not know why they would tweek even the smallest thing. Though the combat is still great, it is maddening they even touched it. The concussion grenade is pretty useless.
Love the story, voice acting, character design, etc...
Game is really buggy.
Awesome open world is empty. I know it is christmas eve and there is a city wide curfew. I still hoped to see SOME citizens, SOME vehicles driving around...
effing LOVED the Bane fight...both of them. I was really underwhelmed by the deathstroke fight. I think they could have done more with enigma. A riddler trophy? that's what I get for all of that?
The campaign maps were not done well. They just never had the right balance and mix of enemies and when you add the timing tweek in the combat it isn't even fun.
8/10...I think this game was scored a tad too low by the reviews but it is still a worthy entry.
Rocksteady, your turn.

I was dying to complain about the timing on combat counters. NO ONE HERE COMPLAINED
It is a catch 22 with most of the complaints. You have to have open world...there is no arguing that. You did the asylum. you did arkham city, but it is so empty. On the flip side, they populate it and frick it up, then everyone is complaining that they didn't need to mess with anything.
I still love this game. OML was right about AC a few years ago. They blew their wad and it is going to take an incredible effort to improve on that game, but with 4-5 years, I am splooging at the thought of what rocksteady is going to do.

Fox, what's the word on origins? Wanting to see what you had to say since you are the resident Arkham knight
I lived AA and AC. Thinking about this one still
Nm. Saw your review literally 2 posts up lol

That is mostly what I didn't like.
-campaign maps (the ones where you fight, not the predator maps)
-empty world
-really buggy, but nothing that will drive you crazy.
-combat timing and the way the enemies space out is out of sync a bit, but I would list the combat as the strength of this game still
-I loved the new detective mode, though next time I hope it puts the burden on me a little to actually do some detective work. I know that is challenging
-Character design is perfect- Batman and bane in particular
-boss fights are awesome though nothing will beat the mr. freeze boss fight ( I play on the hardest difficulty. I know in AC you only had to get freeze a few times on normal, but on hard you have to get him a number of ways) The first bane fight is very challenging
-story is great though there is an early, predictable hitch that I think OML explained well.
-side missions are actually an improvement over AC
-origins brings back the massive interiors of asylum though neither AC or Origins does it quite as well.
-like the previous two game, you feel like batman and it feels goooood
This is an AC continuation in the presentation, gameplay, etc...
I love Arkham and AC the same. They are two completely different games IMO even though they are exactly the same, if that makes sense.
This is just more of the same, but that is exactly what it should be. WB Montreal isn't a capable studio, so they basically did a copy and paste which is perfect because if they tried to do their own thing it would have been a massive dud.

Excellent
Will buy it eventually
Any riddler challenges? I really enjoy those
I haven't read the whole thread obviously

The combat timing didn't bother me at all for some reason.

I've noticed it, but it's not a game killer. I'm hoping to put some serious time into this game in the next few days. I haven't even finished the GCPD yet.

I keep hearing this but what was it missing that AC had?

AC was a prison so it had prisoners
Gotham is a city. It should have citizens. It's not a huge deal for me, but it is something that could've been better
I say this and I am on "I am the night mode"

No, no more riddler rooms, kind of a bummer.

I just really think they could have done the story without making the Joker the main villain again. They could have done basically everything they wanted to do in the story and made it different. Maybe after you take down Black Mask, have it to where Joker and Bane take over Blackgate and just make it clear that those two weren't ever after the money and simply want to give Batman his ultimate defeat.

No, I thought before I opened the game that it would be awesome if black mask hires 8 assassins but the joker comes out of nowhere. Is he going for the bounty? Is he just crazy? I thought the assasin story line would play straight but the joker and other "super criminals" would reveal themselves as the bigger threat
But it would've at least been better to have joker as someone in play for the $50 mil
Still, love the story. Love jokers end scenario. Bane is a star villain in this game and IMO, could've been a larger focal point

I disagree there. The joker doesn't care about money so it would go against his character.

Heath ledger's joker doesn't
The joker definitely does
Well, even Heath's joker got lau for a lot of money. Even if he burned it
