This is a fun seldom heard of game, I have over 20 hours in it.

quote:

n this city-building strategy game, you control a group of exiled travelers who decide to restart their lives in a new land. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland. The townspeople of Banished are your primary resource.

Banished has no skill trees. Any structure can be built at any time, provided that your people have collected the resources to do so. There is no money. Instead, your hard-earned resources can be bartered away with the arrival of trade vessels. These merchants are the key to adding livestock and annual crops to the townspeople’s diet; however, their lengthy trade route comes with the risk of bringing illnesses from abroad.

I was going to laugh thinking I had way, way more, but only 108 or so. Felt like more.

It is a very, very solid strategy game. It is not, strictly speaking, "cozy", but it is just a notch above in tension - especially once you get through the first couple of winters and survive your first population collapse window.

If you have Grimm Dawn already you can get an extra 15% off by choosing the bundle option.

Once you learn how to survive the first winter you are set. I modded the heck out of it and played a couple hundred hours but haven't touched it since 2017.

Played this game a lot in the past. IDK if its still a thing, but MegaMod was super fun and added tons of new content.

I played it a few years ago. It was cool but not as polished or intuitive as I’d like.

IMO, if you like this, try Manor Lords.

It’s excellent. If you are a fan of the genre I can’t recommend it enough. That price is a steal.

Hard is an epic sprint to prepare appropriately for your first winter.

Also one pro tip: a key to survival is continual slow population growth. If you stop building houses, kids won’t have a place to go get married and have their kids. Given the short window that citizens are fertile you’ll end up the houses filled with geriatrics that don’t have children and then everyone eventually dies.

The game is quite good at micromanaging the tedious parts of the population, it’ll automatically place workers in a given profession near the work. I find I get satélite villages for forest hunting, gathering, mining, quarry, etc.

Also don’t underestimate the value in investing into education.

For even more complexity/depth the colonel charter mod is highly recommended
