Man this console just looks so cool, hopefully Atari can get developers on board because lots of people preordering so far, which is a huge leap of faith for a console with exactly zero games right now.

Didnt realize Atari still had such a pull among the people. Atari says they are working on getting developers on board for exclusive titles, will be interesting if they actually can.

The fact that so many people are willing to take a leap of faith so early on a console with no games is perhaps a good sign in that regard.

That being said I wont buy until then. Its hard to imagine this thing succeeding, hard to break into the console market. It doesn't release until 2019 anyway.

I think it's a neat looking system and certainly something for collectors to pick up but I can't see this thing having any future outside the most hardcore enthusiasts. Speaking as someone who grew up with an Atari 2600 and 2 8-bit Atari computers (one for my brother and one for me), very few of those games hold up beyond 10 minutes of curiosity unlike the libraries of NES, SNES, and the Genesis. Adventure is kind of neat, as is Yar's Revenge, and Pitfall is still pretty fun and that's about it.

I know this hardware can do more than just emulate 2600 games but they certainly aren't showing much outside of that new Tempest game and Twitch.

Just so people don’t have to click the links to see how much it beat it’s goal, the goal was essentially $100,000 dollars.

They got all the way up to right under 2 million, which is, to be precise according to the website, a 1994% increase from $100,000.

I could see pledging a smaller amount like 10 to 20 dollars on a crowd funding campaign but I agree. No way in hell I'd touch this.

ETA: Holy shite what a rip off. It's 300 and an extra 50 if you want the "modern controller"

They have some balls charging this much for a fricking crowd funded atari console

Not to mention it has a Bristol Ridge APU, LOL. It would struggle to run PS3 games.
